Sleeping positions. There are so many. Side sleepers, or on your back, maybe stomach...

I wish that I did not move about so much when sleeping, every 20 minutes I am rotating my positions,
I just hate that ya know. Round and round I go, drive myself nuts!

How about you?

Mostly I prefer to sleep on my back, but I'm all over the map so to say...

Whine, whine lol...arg.

I am for the most a back sleeper. I do suffer from insomnia so have the tendency to toss and turn before I can sleep. The little dogs that sleep with me will growl after they have had enough of that. When they growl, it is a sign to me to try and settle and sleep will come. Funny how they know better than I know. Once they tell me and I get still I fall asleep

I thought I was a mostly back sleeper even though I go to sleep on my side. But now that I have a new mattress that is not broken in, it appears I must do more side sleeping than I realized, because I've been having pain in my hip and shoulder. I've bought a gel foam mattress topper and that makes the bed comfy, but I hope the new mattress breaks in soon because the foam is harder to scoot myself around on, and also makes the bed a little too high to sit on the side of it.

Side sleeper here! Wake up every few hours to switch sides.

I wonder why we sleep in the positions we do. Is it something to do with how we were positioned in the womb before we were born?
Every few hours, that must be heavenly to sleep that long in one position, oh how I would love to be able
to do that. Interesting thought, about our positioning in the womb!

* a foam gel mattress topper, I might check in this~

I used to move around from side to back & back to side again. And whatever magazine I was reading was on the floor by morning, along with the TV remote. All that stopped after I got a Tempur Pedic bed 18 yrs ago. Now, I usually wake up on my back - the way I started. And nothing is on the floor. I read that the reason we move around during sleep is to relieve pressure points. Memory foam conforms to the body perfectly after 15 minutes of activation by body heat.

Was a stomach sleeper for 35 years, then I gave up my waterbed. Now I flip-flop, but mostly a side sleeper.
Stomach sleeping, I might try that tomorrow night I think, been a long while.
Those water beds were actually good..

35 years stomach sleeper for you, it worked :)
A side sleeper all my life but now, due to hip and knee problems, have to sleep on my back and finding it very hard, which explains why I’m on here at 2am....... yawn...

Memory foam Tempur Pedic bed, think I am going bed shopping soon~

For years I was a side sleeper. After back pain, I now start on my back & at some point go over on one side.

Luckily, my hubby & I have always liked the same type of mattress, but we got tired of flipping/turning them. The last one we bought is a Sleep Number ... one of the best buys we made.

Each side can be adjusted to the support we need. If anyone is interested in these, make at least several trips to the store to try the various models they have. The first one we tried was not the one we bought.

I used to sleep on my stomach and wear cutoffs. From 30-36. Why? Because my cat LOVED to climb up on me at night, make a few biscuits and then sleep. For a little 3 lb tabby, she had some super sharp stickers.

Now, I sleep on my back. In a recliner. That's from 2 years dealing with BPH. I just got so used to it.

The last bed I purchased was just for me after my hubs passed and I was diagnosed with chronic intractable migraine. The doctor said buy a really good bed, you will be spending a lot of time there. What fun!!

So, I started the search. I went every where, tried every bed and I mean laying there, trying to nap to make sure I had a good fit. I wound up with a Streans and Foster, normal price about 4K but it was a change out year, new models come out about every 8 years. I got it for 75% off, so yep I paid about 1K. Never in my wildest dreams would I think about spending that for a bed but I did. Best thing I ever did. I have had it for 8 years and it is still so comfortable, usually by now I would have to replace it. I know for me that this is the bed for me, I will keep an eye out for the next clearance sale when they bring out the new selections. Even if I don't need it, if I find one on clearance I will buy it and put in the spare room until I need it.

I was having trouble until I switched to side sleeping using 3 pillows. Two under my head & the third one under my rib cage. This forms a trough to reduce the pressure on your shoulder. Now I sleep the whole night through without tossing and turning. This clip describes the setup at 9 minutes in, but its worth watching the whole thing.

Side sleeper. RH side right arm extended left arm tucked under my chin, right leg more or less straight, left leg pulled up almost to my chin. I can’t fall asleep any other way.

Ron just tucks himself in next to me and flings one knee over my straight leg. We sleep like that every night. He will often go to bed before me and is asleep by the time I come to bed. But when I get in bed and after 20-30 minutes reading or in my phone, and I assume my sleeping position, somehow he just knows that and tucks himself in next to me.

I usually wake up to pee and I’m on my other side but when I come back to bed I again lie on my right side positioned as above before I call fall back to sleep again.
