I am a member of 2 semi clubs one fishing the other shooting and have been many years now. Still very active in all but very mixed age groups. We are all very dedicated in these events.
guilty as charged... certain circles like to quibble around in jest while others take themselves too seriously.it all depends of the circle of people or friends jamala, Alot of people could , make
you more depressed , and certain people could drive you nuts LOL
Same here, not a joiner. This group is as close as I have been to an elder club.....
Might make an exception for a fishing club, but don't really know of one.I am a member of 2 semi clubs one fishing
We have a group of boat owners that are very serious about fishing and all plan trips you bring your boat your trip is free we alternate trips, most all also shoot together, sometimes multiple boat trips. We go every week somewhere. Usually if weather permitting, winter months preferred, less weekend idiots out.Might make an exception for a fishing club, but don't really know of one.
Spoilsport - sounds like funit's the same with coach trips for older people.. they're still singing It's a long way to tipperary...good Grief!!... and at adult only holiday hotels, they have Elvis impressionists as the entertainment..*Groan*
My mother was vice-president of a town “Senior’s Club,” and a lot of drinking went on there.Sometimes my mother would pull out her violin, at which point the proceeding could be considered elder abuse…

Same here except the songs being played are religious hymns.I;d take anything tbh... Older people don't exist as far as clubs etc are concerned, around here... ..those that do are clearly for people who are verrrry old IYSWIM .. and they're still playing war songs as entertainment..
"Semi"?I am a member of 2 semi clubs
Same here, usually. These clubs are okay as long at it is strictly for SENIORS. Most of the people in the local one were grandparents and babysat their grandkids, whom the brought to the meetings. Of course the kids were quickly bored then started screaming, shoving each other and chasing around. Not a good combo with mobility impaired people with canes and walkers.
"Looks like we got us a convoy"....C.W. McCall"Semi"?
To be fair, I do think there is a gap in the market. There is a big difference between being 60's and 90's - clubs aimed at, younger seniors would be good - 60-70's discos, Abba and John Travolta and chicken in a basket with a glass of Mateus Rose. I am liking this ideait's 50 years out of date...
And this is why we have dogs. To be able to get out, breath fresh air, enjoy nature, not all of us need to be surrounded by people. Living where I do I have options. When someone "drives you nuts" that could lead to negative talk I try to stay away from that, life is too short. I do agree that there are probably more seniors than not that love to socialize . I am one who can only handle a couple at a time, give me an animal (s) and I would be in heaven. Each to his own, the world is big enough for us all.it all depends of the circle of people or friends jamala, Alot of people could , make
you more depressed , and certain people could drive you nuts LOL
I missed the joke didn't I?Clubs for women? I think that was an old Groucho Marx joke, with the punchline being "Only if all else fails".
yes there definitely is... I mean my time was Status Quo..Genesis, Mud, Slade, 10CC... David Bowie.. Moodly Blues.. Deep Purple, David Essex, Donny Osmond... I certainly don't want to be 'entertained'' by the strains of Vera Lynn...or Max Bygraves.. or some 2 bit Elvis ImpersonatorTo be fair, I do think there is a gap in the market. Mind you, I took my camera once to take some pictures for the club and they had various performers on stage, when it came to a musical act, two female members of the club got up and danced in the aisle - they were amazing. I later had a chat with them and they were both in their late 90's! If I reach that age, I will be dancing in the aisle!![]()

Well, with Groucho being new on the circuit you may not have heard about him.I missed the joke didn't I?![]()
