If you had the power to change people, what traits would get rid and what traits instill in them?

Imagine having the power to change people to your expectations, would that be ethical? What is someone is prone to murder and violence, would that be ethical? What if you could change someone's life for the better, would that be right? What if you could prevent eminent danger, would change someone's life so they may have a better life?

Would you interfere with the natural course of life because you have the power to do so?

Yep!

In that scenario, "ethics" no longer exist.

ahem, hypothetically speaking (of course)... there is a simple solution but strictly unacceptable by today's standards. so, if you have someone take "care of their own" would that matter? speaking for a friend.

would it be overkill to eliminate everything. What would we have to lose if we never had whatever to begin with? That would suit me fine.

That's a hard question ... I'm not sure. It sounds like an episode for the Twilight Zone. I like the idea & I don't want to put a damper on it because I've seen some great ideas from everyone. I've also seen Murphy put his nose in things when not wanted, needed or expected.

Would the Butterfly Effect happen? What if you changed one thing, but forgot to change something else that should have been?

If I could change people to MY expectations- no, and I wouldn't do it.

Would it be ethical to remove violent tendencies.. or change someone's life for the better.. or prevent eminent danger- I'd be willing to do all of those things, whether it'd be ethical or not.

OK, just wanted to clarify if that's what you meant.
whew! that's a relief, because there's more ways of bringing about change than elimination... although i do condone abortion whether it's 20 or more years too late by law.

for the rest... what i speak of when i say "have them take care of their own" is having their community deal with their mistake(s.) it could be family, it could be friends... or simply their neighbors. who knows?

lol... it's all about inclusivity (ok, I'm done) 🤣

hmmm, that doesn't sound like a solution at all. transcranial magnetics doesn't involve surgery but in both cases you still have a vegetable to keep alive.
Altering the mind & ending up with vegetables would have to be the entire world population with the exception of the person altering the minds of others. As selfish as people are it's doubtful that anyone would want to care for the population of billions.

As it is there are a lot of mindless people so maybe changing them into mindful, productive citizens no matter what country they were from would be worthwhile.

It would be nice if all of us shared the same reality. On the surface, that doesn't seem like it's too much to ask. Unless someone is schizophrenic or suffering from other mental illness that's the source of their delusions, we should all share the same facts. But in the 21st century, some people seem to believe that they're entitled to their own facts, or "alternative" facts, as they have been called.

just as i became a teen, i took a position at an inner city 'nursing home' which housed more than just the elderly poor. this gave me an opportunity to be around my mother who was a professional absentee parent and i cherished that.
one of the patients, let's call her elíza (because that is her real name,) was a resident there. she was tiny for 19, bedridden in fetal position, tubes entering and exiting everywhere, and barely hanging on. that c-shaped scar on her temple said it all.
in the short time of my employment we became friends. her excitement during my visits was delightful because there was a sound to her smile (her attempt to vocalize.) what was obvious was how much she'd allow me to spoon feed her just so that i might remain at her side.
her family rarely visited perhaps it may have been too hard. at that home we shared a community as crazy as that may be.

people often enter a zone of alternate reality whenever two or more really connect. maybe realizing that everyone is at different states of awareness even at different times of the day we could bare them some patience in gratitude of the challenges, or even pain, they may bring. it's a real struggle to maintain composure when your nerves are revealed in their reflection... but that pain is a reminder we're alive.
love hurts (sometimes.)
