That sounds like fun. I remember an old Twilight Zone episode called “Kick The Can”. It was about an old man in an Senior Home that taught everyone to stay young and “kick the can”.

Years and years ago my brother was sent to the neighborhood grocery store to fetch a can of dog food. He kicked it all the way home, and by the time he got home the can couldn't be opened with a can opener. Our mother wasn't pleased. I don't remember how it got opened, but the dog did get fed.

I like National Popcorn Day better

We used to clean and flatten them during WWII as they were needed for the war effort.

I remember that and also remember having one big wide-mouth can that was used to save strained fat. I think it was used somehow to aid in making explosives.

I did some work at Umm Umm Al Gawati ordnance repository site in Kuwait, we were told it translated into Mother of Cans...

What I saw was the worst uncontrolled munitions dump in Kuwait, the result of the first Gulf War. A really nasty and dangerous place.

I understand the name came from it having originally been a regular uncontrolled dump, lot of old tin cans...

When you say "tin can" to a US Navy vet, this is what they think of. Not this particular ship but any destroyer or escort.
