Getting help from an internet search.

The blower motor for my basement heater would not turn anymore, so I took it out to either repair or replace. The problem I had though was trying to remove the fan. It wouldn't budge even after applying penetrating oil. I considered a wheel puller but the fan blades would get in the way of the jaws. Googling got me the recommendation to clamp vice grips on the motor shaft and rotate the fan by hand and twist it off. Damn, but it worked! I was freakin' thrilled.

Ever find your solution on the web?

Always, Just Google your Problem /Question. when the links come up click the videos icon top of the page. so much easier to understand visually than the written word. Can always of course if reading instructions PRINT them too...make sure you also bookmark the page so can refer back if need to.....

Not really, but it does provide some good suggestions, then a further
search is required and so on.

Oh yes, lots of times.. especially anything to do with Iphones... it's a real help for a technophobic like me
Technophobe? My so called smart phone is now eleven years old, prehistoric in this techno age, I still don't know how it connects to the internet. To join this forum I needed an email address, what it is, where it is and how to use it, I haven't a clue. Strange thing is, it seems to bother others more than it does me. When I ask someone, how do I........ a common answer is: "Oh it's easy." I tried typing oh it's easy into the search box. It proved unhelpful!

I google alot when I want to know anything and Youtube is my best friend , It showed us how to change a Tap , and when the locking mechanism failed on a washer door how to put it right .

I@m not really technophobic.. just compared to my husband I am...

horseless:::::
email is nothing more than another program, just like your operating system. where ever you signed up for one is where your account will be, google, yahoo etc. they have a large computer what will contain your profile, photo, all messages you sent or received.
It was 1971 when Ray Tomlinson invented and developed electronic mail.
as to your eleven year old smart phone if it is not 4g lte or 5g it will soon stop working. there are senior plans that offer low phone costs and low to free service.

@Chet , welcome to the technology telecom information era where each of us stand on the shoulders of a vast numbers of others providing rapidly expanding available knowledge to anyone. We seniors in our twilight are now living during the dawn of this unique knee period that centuries in the future will be historically looked at as a period of remarkable change.

Yes. many times But sometimes, having learned the solution, my conclusion is "I'll just call in a professional". Happened yesterday with a plumbing issue. I probably could do it myself but it isn't worth my time and effort. ;)
There's been many a time when I thought I had the knowledge and capability to do something but later regretted having made the attempt. I'm much more realistic about these things now that I'm older.

Yes, I have used the internet, and Youtube, to solve amny problems and save money. But sometimes it is frustrating in that I need to go to many, many different websites and Youtube videos to get all the info I need.

And often the Youtuber leaves out the piece of info I need. As in 'remove the contactor' but he does not show how to remove it, then you go to another video, and they also fail to show how to remove it. Frustrating.

But yes, in general, it is a great source of info.

As a matter of fact, I have the same problem the OP had. The blower motor in my air handler is not coming on. I may have to get a repairman in, but now I have more knowledge of the work needed, and am less likely to be ripped off (yes, sorry, I do not trust repairmen). I know there must be some honest and competent repairmen out there, but I do not currently know of one, so I have to take a chance, which sucks, lol.

I'm using ChatGPT more than Google these days to search for answers. It's a lot faster, although sometimes it's not all that accurate. But most of the time, it's right. It's like having an expert on hand at all times for pretty much anything! Except for music. It doesn't seem to understand music very well. And it can't write guitar tablature worth a damn... not even close to being right! But that will change... maybe not for ChatGPT, but for some AI chatbot.

So how do you interact with ChatGPT? Via audio? Keyboard? Is ChatGPT an app on your phone?
