Nothing you do on the net is ever "private" period!!!

I had a nice top coat, from Old Navy, it has these nice big zippered pockets. Well, the arm came undone, so I used my phone to check out the stock at my local store. Now, there are Old Navy ads everywhere, all over every page. I find this unsettling. It proves nothing you do on the net is ever "private" PERIOD!!!! I guess you could waste a lot of time trying to block ads, I'm not sure how effective that is. It makes me feel very vulnerable.

We use Brave as our browser and duckduckgo as a search engine. Eliminates the ads and tracking. On the Brave homepage you can see the number of trackers trying to track you on any website. You'd be surprised how many there are....all blocked.

Targeted advertising is indeed unnerving. I have an ad blocker and although I don't know how much junk I'd get without it, it doesn't really do a good job. It stops *pop ups* but ads within a website are there regardless and usually for things I've searched for previously.

all the intel big tech the other country's etc all know every single keystroke- the problem I have is they can add whatever they want ....you cannot prove different -we live in very very strange times and the tin foil hat crowd seems to have been correct all along.....take a look at the big picture....seems pretty obvious to me.

Just install an Ad Blocker! I sell and buy a lot on the interent.. . My career as a researcher means I'm always investigating things .. I couldn't possibly do any of that if I didn't have an Ad Blocker

What's really unnerving is, for example, when you decide one day to take a magnesium supplement, that you already have, and the next time you go online there are articles on your news feed about the best magnesium supplements as well as ads for magnesium supplements. Now that gives me the creeps.

Ad blockers only put a dent into your searches and adventures on the internet. I am including all ad blockers in this.
Nothing is sacred or private, so all of you who put your moans and groans on these forums are making good reading elsewhere.

I'd only be concerned if I'd visited the doctor and suddenly had funeral home ads.....🤪🤪🤪🤪

I recall seeing the movie Minority Report where the Tom Cruise character is walking through a mall, and the personalized ads are constantly addressing those in the closest proximity.
Yes, & I think the ads recognized everyone by scanning their eyes & actually said their names. I LOVED that part where Tom had his eyes surgically transplanted & when he walked into a store, the speaker addressed him with a Chinese name. 😂

That's fine with me. I'm glad someone is listening to my moans and groans.

A guy I worked with said his Amazon Alexa does the same thing. He was talking with friends about some product and the next time he went on the internet he was swamped by ads for the product. You gotta feel good about that, right? They have your best interests in mind or is it your bank account they have in mind?

I like when I purchase a product and then get a lot of ads about the same product as if I'm going right out and buying another.

Swiss Cows search engine does the same for you.
