Things that bother me about dog owners.

I understand what you are talking about. I have three dogs. They need to go out to potty, for fresh air, running and playing or just to take a nap in the sunshine. The one thing they are not allowed to do is have a bark fest. If they start up with the neighbors dogs, at a squirrel in the trees, they give up their out door time. They are brought in the house. Just because I love dogs does not mean that they are allowed to be a nuisance to others. If everyone took the time to take care of their animals all the problems would stop.

I would also say that cats should not be allowed to roam at will. They make litter boxes of flower beds. They climb on cars. They dig in trash cans. They face many dangers when they are left outside. Cats should also be kept in the home, taken out only by the owners on a leash if necessary. Sometimes I fear that these poor cats are not thought about at all, it is fine to have an outdoor or barn cat in the country, it is a complete different thing to have cats in the city. What do they tell a young child when they see their kitten, dead, hit by a car right in front of their home. How does a child wrap their mind around that?

Cats also kill birds, the world has lost 6 billion birds. My cat is an indoor cat, if she wants to watch birds I put on cat tv.

That means they have very little control. I went in the vets office once with my chi in my arms, and was nearly knocked off my feet by a big boxer dog. Guy had him on a 10 foot lead in a small waiting room where another pet was bound to arrive sooner or later. What. An. Idiot.

Reminded me of a Judge Judy case. A woman was walking her dog - also on one of those long retractable leashes & her dog was in the street. When a driver swerved to avoid the dog, he ran over the leash that he couldn't see. The dog was dragged & was so horribly injured, he had to be put down. The dog's owner sued the driver for the cost of the dog - around $4,000.00.
The judge was smart enough to blame the dog's owner & also commented on the stupidity of such a leash. She also said to the dog owner:
"You are choosing to be angry at the driver instead of acknowledging that it's your fault."

The other day a couple were carrying their little Pom with them in the store. The dog was barking and snarling. JMO, there’s no need to take a dog to the store unless it’s a state certified service dog.

Some people don't get it.
A few years ago, I was walking into a market. A guy was waiting outside (probably for his wife to finish shopping). He had a huge dog on a leash; I think it was an Irish Wolfhound. I didn't pet it or even try to pet it, but in order to walk into the market, I had to walk by near the dog. The dog grabbed my arm in his jaws; didn't really hurt me but did startle me, since I had no way of knowing how hard he would bite, or if he was playing. Some people who saw what happened screamed. I had a bruise on my wrist.
I had a chat with the owner, telling him he was letting himself in for a big lawsuit & he would lose big. He didn't seem to care.

A few years ago, when the "service animal" thing started getting out of hand, I watched a woman walk into a big-box store, pushing a cart occupied by three chihuahuas dressed in sequined dresses with little sequined top hats on their head with elastic chin straps. Yap-yap-yap-yap.... Just inside the door, she yelled "SERVICE ANIMALS!!!" and proceeded into the store. Nobody did anything.

Yep, "service animals".....my sequined rear end.....

I don't have a dog. But as far as people picking the dog up, I guess the owner knows the dog's temperament. Dog bites are taken very serious and can cause a lot of problems for the dog owner. If they have a dog less than 100% friendly, they might be extra careful.

People who don't pick up after their dogs are jerks and probably doing all kinds of other jerky stuff.
