What would you say is the most important lesson you've learned in life so far?

There are a couple that stick out in my mind. The first is to keep a positive attitude. No matter how bad things may look, your attitude can make all the difference.
The second is to never lose your sense of humor. We all need to laugh. It's the best medicine, right?
There is a third. My dad told me this about a million times as I was growing up. "Use your head for something besides a hat rack!" :)

Pay cash and be happy. Don't trust so called "experts " . Listen to your head, not your heart. SAVE a set amount out of every pay cheque, before you pay anyone else. Get it in writing, especially from an employer. Check people's references , both business and personal for accuracy . Never loan money to family or friends, no matter how much they plead. Be honest, if you want to be treated honestly. Be kind. Be careful when you are asked to help some one work on their car, house or boat because if you get hurt, your actual income will stop. Trust your gut feelings about others. Know what to do in an emergency. Don't be the one standing there like a lump. Act , even if all you do is call 911. Get it right, and do it right. Never try to catch a falling knife. Hide a spare set of keys for your house or apartment where you can get to them. Carry identification every time you leave your residence for any reason. If you are a organ donor, carry the donor card with you. Crooks look just like everyone else, despite what you may think. PLAN your will and pre pay your funeral or cremation costs.

A (man or woman), is born beside the road to death. To die is not so much for it is inevitable.
The journey is what matters, and what one does along the way.
It's not Time, for time will come and time will go, as time always does, and it is not time that passes, it is us.
Whether (he or she) succeeds or fails, depends only that (he or she) has lived, proudly, with honor, and respect.
Then, (he or she) can pass with pride.

One thing I have been telling people for years, "a sense of humor is the most precious gift you will ever have". A sense of humor will get through life when bad things happen. It really came in handy after my mother and brother passed away. You still miss them and grieve for them, but to have a laugh about something, will make you feel a whole lot better. You are still grieving, but you took a brief break and had a good laugh. It makes it easier to cope with your problems.

My Word is my Bond.

Dad taught me that a person should always try to fulfill any commitment they make.
If you can't fulfill a promise, don't make one.

I know it's probably wrong, but I do judge a person on this mandate.

I've found that many other good things in life just fall into place when I follow this rule.
