I think you will have to fill me in on the details of your favorite locations because usually tourists see more of the country than residentsLOL..is your name really Maria ?... We used to laugh at how every second woman in Cyprus was called maria.. we'd be in our hotel getting woken up every morning at 7.30am with cleaners calling to each other loudly down the hallways..maria.. Maria.. maria..
I know Cyprus very well, I like to think I;ve been to every part of the island, and driven the whole length and breadth of it...

Oh I love the whole Island..I think you will have to fill me in on the details of your favorite locations because usually tourists see more of the country than residents
And I know what you mean about Maria issue![]()
Yes you are right. All those places are beautiful. Cape Greco especially. Hope you are enjoying your time in Spain now.Oh I love the whole Island.....as you no doubt know Cyrpus is 25 % smaller than the UK so it's easy to get to know well over many trips... and I particualrly love Capo Greco ..so beautiful.. Larnaca.. Nicosia, Protaras ( where I've stayed on several occasions many years ago)..not to mention the beautiful Troodos mountains ... I feel I've been to just about most parts of the Island.. altho' we did stop going for a while after we bought property in Southern Spain...
Oh I don't live in Spain now...I did for a few years but we missed a lot of what was happening in the UK..or should I say I missed it , husband was still working in the Uk and communtin every few weeks to Spain. However we still have the house, after 20 years but it's going to be sold...so I might get back to Cyprus again one day...Yes you are right. All those places are beautiful. Cape Greco especially. I know what You mean. Adjusting to a new country can be challenging. I’ve lived in quite a few and it definitely has its ups and downs. Hopefully you’ll make it to Cyprus again soonOh I don't live in Spain now...I did for a few years but we missed a lot of what was happening in the UK..or should I say I missed it , husband was still working in the Uk and communtin every few weeks to Spain. I’ve lived in quite a few countries. Just the circumstances of my life I guess. Grew up in UK but was born in US to Persian parents so I’m a bit of a mish-mashDrying out. Got a tiny bit of rain last night and today but record amounts all through January. The garden liked it so I do too.
Is there more back story of how you got to where you are now from California? Where have you lived in California? I was born in Oakland. I mostly grew up in San Diego. Graduated from High School in South San Francisco but have been in the Eastbay across from San Francisco since graduating from Cal, about forty years. As a navy brat I’m done with moving and nearly done with traveling too.

Moved to Cyprus from Russia. So basically I’m permanently jet lagged haha
I know what you mean about moving. It’s not as glamorous as it sounds right
I lived in San Diego for a short time when I moved from UK to US. Your old stomping grounds![]()
No my parents were none of those things. They were university professors and I grew up Away from them since a young age. Yes certainly seeing the world gives a very different perspective than being in one place but neither one is better than the other. They are just different experiences.I’m guessing your family were diplomats, military or other government roles. You look very young and .. like the Maria in the song. I always feel like moving so much while growing up gives you more perspective regarding local norms. But now I’m enjoying putting down roots. My wife was born in Ventura, also went to Cal and has traveled around the world quite a bit in her line of work. We live in the old warehouse in which she makes her weaving studio. Are you retired too?
Thanks for sharing about yourself with us, Maria.I’ve lived in quite a few countries. Just the circumstances of my life I guess. Grew up in UK but was born in US to Persian parents so I’m a bit of a mish-mash
