What are you doing today 2023

Try melatonin. Start with a small dose. Increase dosage 1 mg at a time until you hit pay dirt! What not to do? Don't take it once and if doesn't work give up because "it doesn't work."

What are the side effects of melatonin in the elderly?
The most common side effects are headaches, nausea and dizziness. In the elderly, exogenous melatonin may decrease blood pressure and cause hypothermia.

How much melatonin should seniors take?
If a trial of melatonin is considered, experts recommend low doses (as low as 0.3 mg up to 2 mg) given 1 h before bedtime. In fact, many of the large studies involving older patients with insomnia used a 2-mg dose.

Is 5mg of melatonin too much for elderly?
Generally, a safe starting dose for adults is between 1 milligram and 5 milligrams of melatonin. Older adults may find doses lower than 1 milligram to be effective.
There used to be a poster here who sung the praises of Melatonin all the time, saying that by rubbing it on his feet 20 minutes before bed guaranteed him a sound sleep...

I tried it, and it gave me a headache.. and made me lightheaded.. so I stopped . I still have the bottle here

I never heard of topical melatonin applied like that, either.
I might actually consider giving that a try. Who knows, how each of us might individually respond to something. It might be worth my trying that.

I have tried the oral melatonin, very seriously, more than once in the past;
and I stuck with my trials of it, and gradually raised the dose, and tried different brands, etc..... but I got no help at all from it, for myself, even though I think it is well worth a try.
I am sure that many do find it helpful. Glad you do, @Georgiagranny

I have considered trying those things listed in the other above posts, (but was concerned about effects, that @Georgiagranny listed, even before she'd listed them)

so I haven't yet tried them, but I still might. One reaches desperation points, regarding sleep.

I might try a very tiny dose of it, because as was said, the extreme and persistent sleep problem is harming my health further for sure, too.

Sorry, so many have a sleep problem.
I take, and have for years….3.8mg Zopiclone, every nite along with 40 mg Citalopram ( antidepressant )
I sleep well….with very few rare nites that I’m wired and can’t get rid of it…..very rare.

Moved the car to a friends shop this weekend so I could move around it while trying different flame shapes. (too crowded to back up and admire in our little garage). Still haven't found the look I want, but, getting closer I think. I did remove the small flame idea from the fender as I think the longer flames will look better.
Still better therapy than any other I've had.
Not quite sure how to incorporate a hint of gray (to match the seats) into the flames.

Today after my morning walk I have to do my laundry. Cannot put it off another day. This time I will dry it in the dryer. I do not usually do that since my clothes last longer by hanging them on the shower rod or laundry rack. When it is so cold outside I want to keep my apartment as warm as possible and hanging damp laundry makes it cooler.

I am designing a new calendar for everyone that lives here. Worked for months trying to get my printer back on the computer and finally did it. So this calendar will be different from the past ones. I want to include some community events on it also. Things like the free movies in the theater, bingo, food bank delivery, food pantry dates, events in the library or YMCA, etc. Not sure I can fit all that on it but I will see what is available.

Have a great day everyone!

Its foggy but not too cold and I am thinking of getting some chores done and then going for a walk but, at the minute, I am drinking coffee and thinking about it :)
Ditto.. very foggy here too.... Not going out today. I had a visitor yesterday morning which was lovely, and then went out in the afternoon, so I'm staying put today . I'm going to reframe some pictures today.

@katlupe ..I really need to get a new printer too . Mine has stopped accepting peper ..again... but I keep putting it off because every time I read a review on a 'simple to set up'' 3 in one.. they say that it was difficult to set up, and I'm not technical at all, so I just think I wouldn't be able to do it, so it puts me off buying a new one.

Same here, same results. It was like taking sugar pills. Even tried a different brand. No bueno.

Was another productive day yesterday…..took a lots of breaks, just to take in the warm sun of yesterday…..and the sun is getting some heat to it…..got up to +2c for a while.

Today….woke up….read the clock wrong….got out to the kitchen, and saw I was 2 hours too early…..I hate that when that happens….went back to bed.

My corgi, Micki, goes for her bath this morning…..Micki weighs a bit more than my groomer can lift because of her back.
So I lift her into the bath…..stay to lift her out and on to the groomer table…..then I leave till she’s done.

I am sooooooooo MEAN…..asked her yesterday if she wanted to go for a bath today…..well, she headed to the drawer where her leash is and headed and sat by the door……had to get her mind going in a different direction till today.
I asked her if she’s going this morning…..Yep…..she is.😉😊😁😆😄.

Going to start going through my cross stitch patterns……may keep about 20 for myself…..and the rest…..friends will go through them, and take what they want……how many do I have…..fairly large Rubbermaid storage full…..collected them for more than 40 years of my life.
All on sale, next to free.

Same here, same results. It was like taking sugar pills. Even tried a different brand. No bueno.
And here. I'd heard so much about the "miracle" of melatonin so I tried it on a number of occasions. Different doses, different brands, went through all the various combinations that work for some people. I *never* gave up too soon and it just simply isn't right for me. My two major issues with it were waking every 20 minutes when I *did* drift off, and vivid dreams. Ugly vivid dreams that I have never had before or since, so it was absolutely the melatonin causing it.

I bought a small cheap Canon Pixma Inkjet last year. Just plugged in the plugs and off she went. No problems.
It is very basic. No faxing but printing, copying , scanning all great. That is all I need.
It comes with coloured inks but I never replace them. Colour printing was good while they lasted They cost almost as much as the printer! Too expensive. I get large black cartridge. Good for my needs.

Thanks Mizmo..but you won't believe this.. that is the Printer I have which keeps going wrong... :( I've had it quite a time now, about 5 years, and I really don't do a lot of printing but this thing went wrong after the first year..

I took my early morning walk at 6:30 temp was 28,no breeze refreshing
This morning, Mary&I are going on 'road trip' to a favorite store, Target. I'm looking for a shower curtain liner, buy couple other items
The rest of my day take afternoon walk, read NYT,my book. After dinner tackle NYT crossword puzzle, then watch Night Court at 8pm on NBC

I did have a little trouble with the paper at first but found that I had to accept ( letter size) with an OK in the display.
I was guiding to the okay in the display but not hitting the OK button !!.
Felt really daft for a while.
Every time you reload paper you have to register it ? Are you doing that?
That was my problem til I smartened up and checked it off before printing.

As the Spousal Equivalent is making a grocery run today, I just inventoried the freezer compartment with the purpose of moving older stuff to the front.

As a result, I now know that I have:

A lot more bacon than I thought.

Some suspiciously elderly chicken.

One hell of a lot of leftovers.

A box of meatless chicken nuggets that I bought by mistake but am too cheap to throw out.

Some frozen fruit bars that taste awful but...(refer to sentence above)

One frozen waffle that appears to be left over from the Clinton administration.

Various tail-end packages of bread, buns, etc. That the ducks would probably reject.

I'm pretty sure I saw Jimmy Hoffa in the back.....at least part of him.

it's not just the paper..which keeps telling me that it's the wrong size ( standard A4).. no not registering it...how do I do that ? , never had to do that before..?... but it tells me there's no ink when there is..

Yep, vivid dreams here too, although it seems more pronounced with some brands than others. Picked up melatonin + some other ‘natural thing’ ( can’t remember the name) that was supposed to boost the efficacy. All that did was give me *horrible* nightmares. In the trash it went
