Yesterday Daughter and I took a trip to Ely Cambs, . The weather was pretty weird, torrential rain, and dark skies, followed by glorious sun, blue skies and heat.. off and on all day.. so literally from one minute to the next things changed.

Fortunately we were able to get a 1/2 hour gap in the rain, and sat in the sun with our lunch overlooking the Marina..

The city of Ely is small and therefore there's walking distance between the city centre with all it's very small streets and shops.. the Cathedral and all other tourist attractions, and the Small Marina..

We walked to the marina and had lunch sitting outside the very busy pub, in a prime position to watch the boats come in and out.. and were very lucky to get a halt to the rain and have the sun bathe us with it's heat ..

This was our view from where we were sitting..

We also visited Oliver Cromwells' House.. dated circa 1215 AD.. this was his family home.. and inside has rooms set up in the way they would have been at that Period..

DD had no interest in it, so I went in alone, but that's when my phone packed up on me..so I only managed to get one Picture of the Inside..

Really lovely photos, @hollydolly. You certainly have a good eye. And you must have been thrilled to have spent such a wonderful time with your lovely daughter.
Thank you sis.. yes I really don't get enough opportunity to spend any quality time with my DD very often.. she calls regularly and texts but it's not the same.. but she works a lot,so the times I see her are precious.. 🥰

@hollydolly Thanks for the Link ,
I arrived by Train with a online friend that came from lincolnshire she changed from her Train and Joined me on my Train,, our main aim was the Cathedral . So never got down the River although we crossed the bridge over it ..Thats why I would like to go back and see more there .

The stain glass windows in side the Cathedral where very colourful and I took more than a few photos of these .

Aha ha we also went round the oliver Cromwell House /Museum and into the Haunted Bedroom , one of the occupants was asleep in bed , his chest rising and falling .o_O

For a small Town there was enough to see for a day trip out
