Peaches and plums. Already?

I saw some peaches and plums in the store today. It was just one small crateful but I was so surprised and delighted to see them back for sale as they are two of my favorite summer fruits. It isn't peach or plum season, so I wonder how this was accomplished. I have never seen them available so early in the season before.

I'm guessing they're from the southern hemisphere, where it's summer now. Chile perhaps?

You would love the Peach Festival. Held every year in July. Weatherford TX, the whole of downtown is sealed off. Full of vendors with everything peach and other yummy food. There is a huge farmers market. Crafts, games, animals.

Right now, neither peaches nor plums are in season in the United States, so they're most likely coming from South America, as @NorthernLight mentioned.

Yes, but this is the first time I've seen peaches and plums available in a grocery store up North where we don't reasonably expect them for a few months more.
