Spider in the Kitchen Sink

Kind of early to see spiders here in upstate NY. Those don't usually appear until the middle of May. It looks like a jumping spider. but if it is, it a BIG one! If it were summer, I could scoop it up and take it outside, but now it would freeze, but I don't really want it inside. It's been in the sink for hours in the same place.

Spiders seldom come into the house. When they do, I usually release the spider into the garden.

A glass tumbler is placed over the spider and a piece of cardboard is slipped under the tumbler and spider. The spider is released into the garden.

If it's 65 degrees inside her New York home, it's probably less than that outdoors in February there.
If you're gonna sentence the spider to near certain death, might as well just wash it down the drain.
Seems more humane than freezing and quicker too.

A couple of days ago I had the cutest little spider follow my cookie cooling rack out from the bottom of my oven drawer.
He/she was in no hurry at all, but I was, so Blipp, ....sheet of paper towel and smushed it. I don't mind spiders, but I was busy baking that afternoon.

Good Lord, just turn on the hot water and send him down the drain, if he is on the disposal side, flip it on for christs sake. What are you going to do if you see a mouse in the house, put fresh bedding in the guest room? I think not.

Since spiders have an exoskeleton, it could have added crunch to the cookies.

Well, several years ago, I was getting something out of my basement while snacking on a Persian Cucumber.
A huge rat ran up to me & stood on his hind legs. I handed him the rest of my cucumber. He carefully took it out of my hand & ran away.
I figured, if he's going to live here, he might as well eat.

You're cruel.
I am not cruel, I am sensible. If there is a bug or critter in my home they must go. I take care of it, I am not going to call my son, go to a neighbor to remove something I can handle. If there is a lizard in the house, it takes me a while, they are so fast. A mouse, which I have never had, in 30 years, would find a trap. A bug of any kind falls under a heavy shoe. If you chose to live with things in your home that is your choice, does not make others cruel. It makes us sensible, we are keeping our homes free of pests.
