What is worse than moving house?

I am changing my carpets (3 large bedrooms and lounge) with vinyl
Had to have rooms completly cleared so doing two rooms at a time.I have furniture stacked all over the place Can hardly squeeze in to bed
Had to take up all the tack strips all way round the rooms then clean and fill the holes with cornice cement left when nails pulled out. Most of the time a great lump of concrete comes out with the nail.
Have chosen a wood grain pattern.Sure changes the look of the rooms.

A lot of work ahead of me putting furniture (and surround sound) back

Good move going vinyl Phants, I'm still kicking myself I caved in to having carpets in the bedrooms. Not next time! Vinyl right through or the deal's off.

I got a beaut big tile pattern and if it's still on the market I'll go with it again. :D

A mate of mine has a allergy problem he has vinyl troughout his place. Bathroom tiled floor to ceiling & kitchen dining ceramic floor tiles Vinyl Wall paper.
Twice a week they mop the whole house with some special solution.

I use those little saucer things with carpet on the bottom of them, i think they call them furniture or floor protectors, i have them under my heavy glass table legs and no dents in the vinyl
Must go to the hardware store and purchace some.I was thinking of putting some old carpet under legs
I did put some stick on felt but is only about 3mm thick

Good quality vinyl doesn't leave dents. This stuff is Pegulan and my dining chairs have skinny steel legs just under 2cms diameter and have had some heavy people on 'em and there isn't a single mark in the vinyl after 2 and a half years. It expands back into shape in a couple of minutes after the pressure is off and they vanish.
No marks from relocated furniture either.

The unspeakable carpet though has permanent craters in it from just about everything!

Bit annoyed with Coles , they are taking away all our choices and making us buy their brands, doesn't work with me, go to Safeway if not try the hardware shop, if i was nearby i would pop in and give you some.

Wow, Phantom, I really like that flooring!! Wish I'd thought more about that before we built our house, we carpeted all rooms, and did bath, kitchen, and dining room in ceramic tile.
I don't like carpeting, since I don't believe you ever get it really clean, and so much easier to mop or scrub floors.

Arrrggg; maybe in my next life...... :D

I really like the wood look vinyl. I just got a couple of samples squares from Home Depot and am putting it on my wish list. I would really like to replace the carpet, which I have in the bedroom and the loft upstairs.
In my other house I took up the carpeting in a small den off the patio and replaced it with tile. The doggy door was in the patio door, and I was so amazed at how much dirt was constantly on the tile. Just to think how much dirt was in that old carpet grossed me out.

The only downside of the tile was the time I came rushing in from the pool and busted my butt, when my feet flew out from under me when my wet feet hit the tile...I was very aware of having dry feet before entering after that.

Well getting there !!!
Got all knick nacks back in units (I took pics first of the inside sio I knew where to put everything back )
So now it is two bedrooms to go ......Not looking forward to my daughters room!!!! LOL)
Saved myself $300 by ripping up old carpet and carpet tacks so bought the carpet square you can see in pics
Still have to conect up my surround sound system yet
I bought the carpet protectors at Bunnings Jillaroo....Would you believe it the dents have totally gone:):)

As you can see still a mess but getting there

So pleased Phants i was in BigW today and notice they sell them as well, they certainly make a difference. Rome wasn't built in a day so just take your time as it's important to look after your health, i love your wall unit.:hair:

Beaut job Phants.. that wall unit must have taken you ages to replace all the nick nacks, photos etc.. but the room is
looking good..and a credit to you ,.. as Jill says take it easy and look after yourself as well.. thanks for sharing your
picture..

I did buy a carpet shamooer. It did a great job but when I pulled up carpet the underlay was quite wet and soaked through to concrete underneath.Wooden floor would have been worse
