How Much Salad Dressing?

I go lightly. I only use YaYa's Poppyseed gluten free dressing, the stuff is so thick I always water it down once I get a bit out of the bottle.

Put me in the "as little as possible" camp.

We visit the Northern California Wine Country (Napa and Sonoma counties) on a regular basis. Many restaurants have their own "potager garden". When the baby lettuces are harvested and served to you within minutes, you don't even need a dressing. A light quick drizzle of EVOO is all it takes.

How Much Salad Dressing?

I'm a bit of an odd duck when it comes to veggie salad
And I'm a one dressing odd duck...thousand Island
Not just any thousand island
Krogers only for me
Something is lacking in name brands

Anyway
A dollop
Big salad? two dollops

Here's where it gets weird
I like my salad to rest
in the fridge
Three days is perfect
I love limp salad
....and sop it all up with bread and butter

That weird fetish got me into a bit of trouble
Wife was gone
There was this big steel bowl on the counter
I was hungry
Took about three dollops of thousand island
At it all
Wife gets home and thanks me for taking out the compost....

Hey, thousand island works on my burgers, and other stuff.....like compost

I'm no longer let in the kichin

Don't ask me what a dollop is.......it may be the sound coming outa the jug.... probably

@Gary O' I’m gonna pretend you didn’t just tell that story! 😖😂

I don’t like limp salads, with one exception! For some weird and ungodly reason, I enjoy Caesar salads the next day, when they’re wilted some. I have no idea why!

My mom used to say, if you finish the salad and there's dressing in the bottom of the bowl, you put too much on.

I agree, I like a lightly dressed salad, not drowned.
That's why I liked a certain dressing maker. Kens ranch or the other varieties all had just the right amount for a salad and you know the calorie content. Plus, being in small pkgs, you can measure our easier the total.

Mama likes depending on her mood Ranch, Russian or French and I only like blue cheese or roquefort dressing and I want to taste it so I want quite a bit......because of not being real popular I suppose some restaurants don't carry either one of my choices and if that the case I just don't get a salad.

That's the way I do it. I have no idea how much I actually use, but my salads are an entire meal, and are a heaping dinner plate, with tuna, shrimp, or chicken. I'm guessing two tablespoons. A few years ago, I realized I was using way too much. I like dressing, but it shouldn't overpower the salad, and there is no longer any leftover dressing on my plate.

Greek is my current dressing of choice. I used to like raspberry vinaigrette , but now the thought of it nauseates me. I only keep creamy dressing on hand to use in egg or chicken salads.

Start with Balsamic Vinegar and Oil as a base in a little cup then add some fresh squeezed Lemons/Limes and abit of Tabasco and with abit of fresh ground Black Pepper
I like my Salad wet but not swimming...

I also like when ms gamboolgal puts some of her Baked Chicken in the Salad.

This thread is making me hungry !
