What "Mental Exercises" do you do to keep your brain in shape?

diabetes for 60 years: 3 or more miles/day walking (to increase endorphine);
tai chi/chi quong (to relax and to increase energy/flexibility/memory);
proper diet (no junk and/or prepared food, no sugar, minimal salt; minimal red meat);
sudoku on-line; knit; read;
become a "minimalist" (ie reduce clutter in the house)
stay away from depressed and negative people.

I love your last one - stay away from depressed and negative people.. AMEN!!!

The other thing I do is play/ watch Jeopardy! I play out loud! Even if I don't know an answer I say that out loud. These are spoken word - memory connections. Language is stored on one side of the brain and spoken on the other. Every time information crosses over it exercises the brain and even makes new connections. You would be surprised what you have stored there. At least three times a game I see/hear the question and know the answer and I have no idea how or why I would know that!!

I saw a report on tv that showed all the data and personal info that Chinese made computer games are stealing from the users. I reported that to Amazon and asked for some USA made word games. They said both Wordscapes and Words With Friends were owned by US companies. So those are now the only two I play. I use an Amazon fire tablet which is limited to Amazon apps.

Oh wow, I just finally got myself weaned off Tik Tok and now they might be in control of the games too? Yikes. I hope not my favorite alien shooter game! 🤣

I play Words With Friends almost daily. Some people don't realize that one has to make some strategic moves to win. I think I have about an 80% - 85% win rate. I also play Cody Cross (a different kind of crossword puzzle). I learn new words and new facts playing those games. In addition (no pun intended) I work with figures often since I'm always tweaking my budget. When I'm doing that I often do the addition in my head. When I play the Majongs (two different versions) they help with spatial recognition and challenge my reflexes.

I can attest to this as I've played with @OneEyedDiva; she is very good. Wiped the board with me a couple times, I think. ;)

I crochet also. Never thought of it as a brain activity but I guess it is to keep all the rows and stitches straight.
The thing about crochet is that you are using two hands and they are doing different tasks while working together. Its very challenging and stimulating to the brain. Notice how when you are doing it you are focussed and relaxed at the same time?

Don't play video games or watch much television. Instead read science, technology, and as a retired science educated tech career person, often use my considerable computer skills in many ways. Also as an athletic fit person, am often outdoors that is naturally healthy for we Earth creature monkeys mind and bodies.

Like many people here, I do several activities. I like to play games on AARP a lot (a range). It has a Stay Sharp section and shows you where you match to other people who also were tested. I like to write and am working on revising some chapters of a book. I like to knit and paint (taking a watercolor class). I also teach online classes and have to read essays and grade assignments, which keeps me on my toes. Sometimes I think I'm overtaxing my brain! lol
