Another Senior Oooooppps....washed the shower curtain and

the plastic liner, together, and the plastic one fell all apart....oooopppsss.....I know I've done it that way in the past......oh well it is pretty old anyway, so
time for a new one.....here I come Amazon!!!! 📦
I wash the plastic liners in the washer... just toss a couple of towels in there with it. Since they're so cheap (or used to be before inflation!) at WalMart (Under $4) I usually keep a couple on hand for when I don't feel like washing the old one. And now that you mention it, @hawkdon , you gave me a chore... I wanted to wash that thing last week and totally forgot. 🤫

Yes, They must be pretty old to fall apart! But they are cheap! I buy them for drop cloths.
Interesting to find a man who washes his own shower curtain!

Here's how my plastic shower curtain got torn. The cat likes to hide between the cloth liner and the plastic liner.....don't ask me why.

Then one day he decided to attempt to climb the cloth liner, got tangled when the whole thing came down including the rod. I heard the thump and ran to see what happened. Cat, rod, two curtains and a whole lot of movement. Not easy to separate a cat from his tent.

And the idiot still hides there.....go figure.

I have the normal fabric shower curtains, there is also the plastic liners. Each bath has its own color scheme with all the matching stuff. WTF, why I am I buying all this crap. I live alone, rarely have visitors. I don't think the dogs care what is in there. These days I just worry about keeping things clean and having toilet paper in each bathroom. If you need the spa experience go to a hotel, stay here for real life.

There's nothing wrong with wanting your place to look nice...just for you! It's depressing to took at old worn out stuff around the house. I find that switching out the decor once in awhile is mood lifting. Maybe switch out pictures from one room to another, different color pillows on the couch, use different color towels in the bathroom, etc. It doesn't have to cost a lot. Resale stores are a good resource to replace old worn out things, or just items you're sick of looking at after 10 years!

I have no problem buying second hand, I am one of those rare people that appreciates older, things. I was one that would go to estate sales, garage sales. I was normally looking for older cookbooks or kitchen things. I did purchase some solid furniture, I think these days they call it brown furniture. What would want in your home, pressed board crap or solid maple, oak or pine?
I bought one set, a kitchen table, leaf, and four chairs for $75.00. I got it home and found a label on the under side of the table. It was a Tell City set, I had never heard of it. I looked it up and found it was collectible, sought after, worth a lot of money. I still have it, the original label on the table.

I have a gorgeous lamp, one of those that was popular in the 60.s Floor to ceiling, with the original lighting globes, gold in color with the bubble details from an estate sale.

Most of what is out there is just cheap, thrown together crap. I will take old quality pieces when I can find them. The only thing I will not buy second hand is a mattress. Now when I need to buy a new couch, it takes forever. I have to find one with a base of solid wood, the best springs, hand tied. High quality leather, that will not fade or be scratched by the dogs. They can be expensive but will last for 20 years or more. I have one now, I bought 25 years ago for $800. Still looks great and is the most comfortable seat in the house.

I agree! I have lots of antiques that will probably last another 100 years. And I bought a bedroom set back when I was 19 years old that is solid pecan, very heavy. (People turn pale and run when I ask them to help me move.) It's in the same shape today as the day I bought it.

I also love old cookbooks. We have a used bookstore here in town and I'm hoping to find an old Julia Child cookbook one day.

But I feel like I have hijacked the thread. Way off from shower curtains! Sorry.

I got a waterproof fabric shower curtain several years ago and replaced it this summer. No more plastic liners. I wash it about once a month and hang it back up to dry. No more soap residue or mildew.
I've been trying to get a WATERPROOF fabric shower curtain, like they have in hotels. I've ordered a few and they turn out to be waterRESISTANT, which lets water right through.
Where did you get yours?
BTW, I've been having "Senior Moments" since I was 18.

My "waterproof" fabric curtain wasn't waterproof either. I know that some are.

I'm using a plastic curtain now. In fact, one and a half plastic ones, as a single curtain wasn't big enough to prevent wet floor.

I got my first one at Walmart, the second at Menards a Wisconsin based home improvement chain.
