Do you drive an "old person's car".?

Nope, the only car I've owned that would have been considered an "old person's car" was a Lexus SC430, and I was in my 40's when I owned it. It was a great cruiser and a nice top-down ride but just not exciting enough. Even then, I had ground effects and sporty wheels on it.

I never liked big cars. My father had a Lexus LS400, but we used to take my Acura TL on weekend errands. When he passed away, I quickly sold his LS400 back to the dealership.

I've had my '17 Audi A4 for over 6 years and love how sporty it is.

My dad at one time had the Lexus and a late 80's Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham that looked like a bordello inside with all the red leather. I convinced him to sell it and just keep the Lexus.

We have what would be more commonly known as a family car. A 2023 KIA Soul. In our life together we've had a variety of cars so at this stage of life getting to point A & back is all we care about. The KIA is comfortable, decent enough fuel consumption & does what we bought it to do.

Funny, I keep dreaming about that 73 ford pinto, white with a tan vinyl top and interior, 4 speed. I would love to have that little car again!!

I had a '73 Ford Pinto, too, red 4-speed, black interior. Once I learned to drive a stick, I loved that car. Had it for three years and not a bit of trouble with it. It drove well in Detroit winters, too, never got stuck in snow or skidded out on ice.

Every time I see the large European license plates, I think we should have similar in N.A. Those are so easy to read and the only time you want to read one is to report someone that has done something wrong.

You could say both yes and no. Young drivers in the UK pay heavily for car insurance, the sportier the car, the higher the insurance cost is. That didn't stop my friends from buying older sports cars, usually at the end of the car's days, that being all they could afford. All I wanted was something that was warm, dry and room for a bit of "hanky-panky!" When our neighbour bought a new car I bought his old one. Today that car is referred to as a "Woodie" and it looked like this:

The seats were known as bench seats, they went right across the car, great for hanky-panky. My car was popular because ten young men could squeeze into it, me being their taxi driver for the night out.

Then life sort of got in the way, graduation, marriage, mortgage and all that. A car though, was never a problem, my line of work had a car provided by the company, albeit a dull, boring bog standard yet practical model. The woodie was sold off to one of those friends that squeezed into the car on our night's out. He had trained in car mechanics and now had a garage and fledgling business of his own.

Today this VW Golf is our car, it's the first time that we have ever kept a car for so long, it's twenty-two years old and that 's because it lives in a heated garage with the car that would have had my teenage friends salivating over.

Those friends all liked cars like the MGB, but if you had the money you would be seen in an earlier MG. By that time the MG TC seen here would be well over twenty years old, already classic status.

Now, much later in life and with a few shekels in the bank, I rather fancied one of those early MG TC's, what's more, the lady didn't object, but she did point out that her asthma and open top cars were not a good mix. Fortunately, that friend who had the fledgling garage business was still going strong and by now his grandson was running the business. He told me of an MG model similar to the TC that had a hard top with a sliding sun roof, what's more he knew where there was one for sale. That's how the classic MG came to share garage space with a VW Golf.

Going back to that early woodie. Did my wife, who was then my girlfriend, and I, ahem, indulge in hanky panky? Discretion is the order of the day, I couldn't possibly say, but I can share this anecdote with you. A couple of birthdays ago my shirt collection that my lovely lady makes for me had a new addition. It came with a small note that read: "For memories!" What memories? I will leave that for you to decide. Here's that shirt!

I MUST drive a hatchback, which is not hard to find in newer models, as most now look like clones of our 09 Toyota Matrix. And preferably good gas mileage, so not too much power. So yeah, old persons.

Also have a 99 Chev Suburban sitting in a garage, only used for emergency winter use and then washed and put away. These old trucks easily rust away.

LOL I probably do! Mine has none of the modern day bells and whistles. Just a plain car. I don't even have electronic windows. But I love it's perfect for me. :)
No electric windows ?.. I thought my car was old.... but you know what they say ?.. the most economical car is the one sitting on your drive... meaning no need to buy another car if the one you have is serving you well..

My first car was a Beetle. How I loved it! I had it for a long, long time. My dream would be to have another refurbished
my first car was a Mini.. then the VW beetle.. which was white.. i really didn't like the beetle.. it had weird pedals , instead of pressing down as one does the gas pedal had to be pressed horizontally..

We ( my husband) has a vintage VW camper van.. 50 years old ... he's owned it since the late 80's..

We have a Caddy CTS coupe, Antique Jeep and Ford Escape that's it...lol.

Now you've made me covet -- and right in the middle of Lent! :D That thing is gorgeous!

I drive an old car, but it's not an old-person's car because I can barely get out of it. I've told my husband that if I'm late getting home, look in the garage, I might just be sitting there. My car's a 1998 Neon.

So you like the Caddy, huh...lol. Its a fine car and perfect for freeway driving. We got it when we were driving back and forth to Ft. Myers beach for that 6 week winter stay. Great on the highway. All our cars are red. Love red!

My husband is in his early 60's he drives a Maserati .. definitely not an old persons' car. I never liked being in it.. the seats are too low, and the doors are so wide and heavy to open..
Our neighbor drove a Porsche. He often impressed young women with his car but regretted that he could not get out quick enough. So he only chatted with them a while through the open window.🤣

My first 2 cars were a '66 Charger and then a '72 Charger Rallye. Now a '16 Cherokee for the wife, and an '01 Grand Cherokee with a v8 for me. I guess I never worried about fuel mileage.
