Can a person be an anacronism?

If so, I must be one. My mother used to say that I was born 50 years too late.

I have no idea what a podcast is. Yanno...when you hear the words "Listen wherever you get your podcasts." Huh?

Those white things that people wear in their ears. I don't know what they're called, only know that the people wearing them can hear stuff. Phone calls?

Bluetooth. Really? What's a bluetooth?

My phone says I can store passwords in my wallet. C'mon...

There are more, but offhand I can't think of them. Things I run up against every day.

Your tagline is hilarious! 🤣

As for anachronism, the soul chooses his birth, where, when, to whom, etc.
(wherever he or she feels most comfortable)
Until the cycle of birth and death is eclipsed by the expansion into the Absolute
unity consciousness, the soul is continually reborn and continually experiences
the karmic effects.
By this, YOU CHOSE your life. Everything you are experiencing is exactly what
was planned by your soul. Everything then exists when and where it should.

Those white things are AirPods, and I discovered them a while ago. They allow me to listen to music downloaded to my iPhone while I am at the gym or out walking. Listening to music definitely gives me more energy and improves my mood. I will also occasionally call one of my friends while walking and I can talk to them through the AirPods without missing a step. Now that I have them, I don't know how I lived without them.

I'd like to think I am up to speed on technology for anything that enhances my life. I'm not interested in things like Twitter or TikTok that the GenXers follow.

OMG I had to look that word up! That's definitely what I have always felt like! I understand modern tech, and some I even like, but I dislike most of it. People always say I'm too old fashioned. I've been this way since childhood. As a kid and adult, when I look at old black and white pictures I feel some kind of emotional attachment to the time, like I've been there/belong there. It's weird. Because of that I've also always had a fascination with time travel too because they go hand in hand.

Podcasts are the best things since sliced bread. It’s like listening to a radio conversation but on your own timeline. There‘re 100s of thousands of them. I discovered them the first time I had to be facedown for a week. You can listen on your computer. I use my iPhone Go in your App Store and search for some. I started out with NPR, CBC radio and it grew from there. The other day I was feeling down. Finally realized I needed some humour, turned on funny podcast and perked right up. At bedtime I turn on meditative sounds.

If I need to listen without disturbing anyone, I put my earplugs into the iphone and into my ears.

Do you have a smart phone? If it has a wallet, you can put store cards or a credit card on it. The passwords will be in a different directory, depending on the type of phone.

I never understood podcasts, thanks for explaining. Pod casts are not my cup of tea because I never liked the radio either. 🤣

I'm currently reading a book which was written in the early 1900's and thoroughly enjoying it. The clever use of language to turn a mundane event into a drama....the standards of literacy which demonstrates how much has been lost. So much has deteriorated in a very short time. I may be considered out of touch with the modern world but, like so many of us oldies, I have the benefit of knowing how things could be if only people would get back some self-respect.
I have no idea what a podcast is...I'm vaguely aware of what blog means...but I can happily live without either thanks. I don't understand why so many people thrust themselves into the public eye and share every detail of their lives. What does it say about their egos? Why is it that so many cannot function without constant music in the background?

I don't have an iPhone, just a regular smartphone. That's another thing...whyever on earth does a phone have to be smarter than we are? I read recently that Gen Somethings are giving up their smartphones for the old fashioned flip phones. One hopes it's a trend that takes over and that smartphones go the way of gas lights and the horse and buggy.

Go to the app store? See...I'm not gonna do that because I'm not gonna buy anything from yet another online store.

Upload, download, unload, reload, lock & load...

@jujube Luddite. Ha! I've said that very thing about myself.

I adapt to modern technology, just at a pace slower than most. I didn’t have an answering machine until long after other people did; I saw no need for one as I got few calls. I continued to use pay phones until their extinction forced me to acquire a cell phone, and then it was a basic one which only made calls. I used a dial-up internet connection after my urban relatives were using wireless. I like paper books and paper records of transactions. And I still have working cassette and CD players!

I don't keep up with current music or post on TikTok, but I do try to stay current on most things that affect my daily life. Even when I was younger, I always told myself I didn't want to end up being like that "old person" at the grocery checkout who couldn't figure out how to pay with a credit card. Now that I am that old person, I try to keep up.

The latest thing to drive me right around the bend is the new debit card that I'm just supposed to tap on the card reader. Maybe it works, but so far I haven't been in one single store where their card readers accept the "tap" feature.

Not sure, but mine works fine. A bit of friendly advice. Get a cash-reward credit card instead of using your debit card. As long as you pay the balance every month, it is free money.

Same here. I never felt inclined to have a Twitter account, but I have seen over a hundred TikToks and I got bored. Everyone wants to be seen and heard, no matter how mundane what they posting.
I will try more podcasts, though. NPR sounds like a good place to start, as I've heard a few while traveling with my girlfriend. She's more intelligent than me, maybe it's from listening more.;)

I have a twitter accoun,t but I've never used it. I looked at some tweets and the format and said no. Never looked at Tik Tok or Instagram. I have Facebook mainly for family.
I do love podcasts. I look forward to walking because that's when I listen. I like foodie and health types.

Instagram is another one I never started. But FB has reconnected me with classmates, but over the last three years, I rarely post. The environment there is sadly slipping away. Too many inaccurate and false postings....
