I wouldn't be shocked if Disney makes out like a bandit within the details of the "takeover", like the state taking over some of Disney debt?

Seems pretty likely, none the less I think it is time Disney be treated like other businesses.

I remember Orlando before Disney, a one stop cow town...

For years I hated Disney, when I lived in Florida I was often asked how far I lived from Disney, my standard answer was "not far enough".

Now I see the whole Orlando theme park mess as a kind of fly paper, keeping the tourist crowds away from my favorite Florida spots...

I have only been to Disney World once, to attend a conference held there. Never got further than the hotel... However I remember visiting Disneyland when I was about 12 and have to admit I really enjoyed it.

I remember it as well. We moved to Tampa in 1966. We used to visit Disney World every time our relatives and friends from other states came to visit. The entrance costs were astronomical and the mediocre food was expensive. I can't even count how many times I've been there.

In the travel industry, they used to spend tons of money bring entire productions on stage at conferences. Anyone who worked for them had to follow their corporate line to the letter. Some employees even lived in Celebration, their contrived version of the ideal town.

I don't agree with the reason for this turn of events, but at the same time I have no love for Disney as a corporation.
