Would you eat this kind of food?

Someone I know posted this picture of the platter they ordered for their birthday celebration, posted about how great it was. Maybe since I eat healthy my perspective is biased but that meal looks nasty, even the presentation is ugly. I would eat a few bites but don't think I could stomach much before my body went into revolt.

Just curious how others look at a meal like that.

Looks like a family platter at a barbeque place. I see cornbread, macaroni and cheese, coleslaw, sausage, jalapeno poppers, fried chicken or fish. Maybe some pinto beans and dirty rice hiding on there. This is something you would find in the south. Not for everyone, everyday but a splurge meal of everthing not healthy for the most part.

That's what it looks like to me, too.

To be fair, even healthy, delicious food doesn't necessarily look appetizing in photographs. That's why advertisers use food stylists. They employ all kinds of tricks to improve the food's appearance.

yes and usually none of it involves real food.. that's fact.

For example to get ice-cream to look delicious they use Mashed potato...

What confuses me is the lack of bowls and plates. Most of the food looks like it fell out of a bag onto wax paper. The coleslaw looks like soup. There’s cornbread, pickles and pieces of sausage tossed everywhere with no napkins in sight. It looks like a hot mess to me but I’m more on the fussy side especially when it comes to food and cleanliness.

I frequently have a meal of as many as 12 different items, but in small portions. Everything from pickled eggs, tuna salad, dill pickles, sauerkraut, beets, green beans, avocado, beans, baba ganoush, roasted bell peppers, olives, salsa, sardines, pickled onions, raw vegetables--you get the point.

The food would probably be edible but if I was presented with a meal like that I’d refuse it and find somewhere else to eat ! 😝

It looks like southern food. Some coleslaw, corn, pulled pork, fried fish maybe, and corn bread. Hushpuppies man n cheese, and sweet tea.
Not health food but some would say it's "good to me! ". Yup, that's how they'd say it.
