Selective Outrage

This Jada/Will conversation was uncomfortable to watch.

And their way to wrap it up - jointly saying, "We ride together, we die together, bad marriage for life"???
Gotta wonder about that being a couple's motto.
I wouldn't waste my time watching anything about them. Does anyone really care about their f'ed up marriage, except to dish about how f'ed up it is? That's what makes me wonder.

Don’t they have an open relationship ?
She’s openly admitted on many interviews about the affairs she’s had. Clearly there was a lot of anger exploding in him but his behaviour at the Oscars? was shocking.
I was a huge fan of his before but after that night, no more. Chris Rock handled that like a champ. He manned up and took control while Will lost it.

I can't watch the video because I don't belong to that site, but Chris Rock has been my favorite comedian for a long time now. I was stunned by Will Smith's slap and still can't believe that one entertainer would attack another while he was on stage.
If you have YouTube I'm sure they'll show excerpts.

And yet, here you are reading the thread and commenting along with the rest of us. ;)

Sometimes people's lives are like train wrecks. Not something most particularly want to see, but when it happens in front of you it's hard to avert your eyes. Will and Jada seem quite invested in making sure their marital train wreck is a very public event.

Selective Outrage....Chris Rock is always spot-on with his comedy, in Selective Outrage his social commentary is just so hilariously on the mark. Chris Rock calls out the hypocrisy in today's world while making it all so...laughable.

I love Chris Rock's tell-it-like-it-is style...nobody is spared!

@StarSong ^^^^ This is what I originally commented on. ^^^^ See post #14.

When I got notification that there were more comments, I came back to the thread to see if anyone else had commented on Chris Rock's performance. Up until that point, no one had, and I commented on the fact that it degenerated into bashing Will and Jada.

Of course, you and others are free to bash them for what ever reason you like, and I'm free to comment about it. ;) I won't waste my time here any further. I've unsubscribed from this thread. Enjoy yourself and carry on. :)

I don’t know anything about the personal drama. I did attend Chris Rock’s show in Phoenix sometime back. Laughing so hard. He was even more funny in person.
You know Will Smith did Chris Rock a favour in many ways, because CR wasn't really known in the UK as a stand up comedian..until.. WS smacked him... now everyone knows who he is.. and I hope he continues with the success that WS doesn't deserve any longer

Well, well, well...look here... I just wrote the above and then opened the news.. and here's a piece by 2 of our top tv news and morning show presenters talking about Chris Rock..

Richard Madeley and Susanna Reid were in agreement that Chris Rock is a very rude man while talking on Good Morning Britain on Monday.

Chris, 58, has spoken about being slapped by Will Smith on stage at the Oscars last March in his new Netflix stand-up special, making headlines while roasting the actor’s marriage with Jada Pinkett Smith.

Richard, 66, said: ‘I’m not defending what happened to him, it’s wrong, completely wrong. But in 50 years in this game, he is rudest man I’ve ever had to interview, Chris Rock.'

Susanna Reid, 52, recalled interviewing Chris alongside Ben Stiller when they were promoting Madagascar, the 2005 animated movie they both voiced characters for.

She concurred with Richard and said: ‘I have to say, it stands out in my memory. He was just consistently unbelievably rude. A thoroughly unpleasant piece of work.’

Referring to the famous slap, Richard said: 'I didn’t smack him though, I kept my hands to himself.’

Richard then outlined how the comedian reportedly acted in a rude way, rather than using uncouth language in their interview.

‘I think we need to hear the other side of the story,’ Susanna quipped.

And Richard responded: ‘I’d love to do that. Bring him over! Keep my hands behind my back.’

I watched it.
Chris waiting a year before saying anything about the ‘slap’ occurrence proved the smartest thing he could have done. Smith gave him enough for his comedy skids that he didn’t even have to make **** up proving that pen is mightier than the sword. The fact that he left all of this until the very end proves he’s a class act, in my opinion.

I watched this Chris Rock show that was on Netflix last night. I've seen Chris Rock when he was funny.....as for this show being funny, I'll just say, funny was 'Selective'.
Just call me a fuddy duddy or a prude but the lewd talk and using the 'F' word continuously was over the top.

We watched the entire show last night and I would have to agree with you. This show was extra crude. Some of it even had my husband cringing.

Watched the special last night. Thought the beginning and end were strong and quite funny. His commentary about the Smiths and the infamous slap was clever and on target. The old saying, "Revenge is a dish best served cold" applies here. Rock bided his time, honed his laser sharp words, and chose his moment.

I thought the middle of the special had some weak spots, including far too many p***** comments for a man close to 60. Not sure who he's trying to convince - him or us - that this continues to be such an important focus part in his life.

On the other hand, his standup has always tilted heavily into the raunchier end of the spectrum so I can't say I found it shocking.

I didn't find the show to be more curse-laden than his other work. I find him generally hilarious, always did & he makes the F word funny IMO.
