To all the wonderful photographers on the forum:

Some of the photography I've seen on here is incredible and equals the greatest photographers of all time.
I LOVE the old black and white photography from Walker Evans, Dorothea Evans, Ansel Adams. Edward Curtis.
have any of these influenced you? Are any of these your favorites?

I'm a big fan of Walker Evans' work... the astonishing pictures of people from almost 100 years ago.. are beyond any description fitting enough... I love to look at them, but I'm not a person who can take picture of people well.. Simply I think because I don't get enough opportunity.. people just don't want their photos taken in the same way that Evans took them back in the day..

I don't know the others ..and only recently seen Ansel Adams work in ''true photography''.. of course as I take almost always landscape photography, I am fascinated by his work.. again to be able to create such glorious pictures 50 60 70 years ago.. is astounding.. and equal or better to what I'm creating now in the 21st century...

Ansel Adams, of course. Don’t know a lot of the others

some people just seem to have an “eye” for photography…. College son of a friend having a year in Japan and posting (or his mom does) some great pics on FB …

Also the Deacon at my church posts lovely nature photos; I don’t think he’s had any formal training

Reminds me of a guy who was judging photos, one won 2nd place, a little frog sitting on a lilly pad. He approached the photographer and asked how she'd gotten such a great photo.

He expected to hear how she waited for the light, shading and film speed and she replied

"I was out on the pond, saw it sitting and bent over and "Click!"

Sometimes the best photo is unplanned.

Most of mine are like that tbh !...everyone tells me it's in the eye.. and clearly I am just there at the right time most of the time
