Chinese restaurant caught with dog meat

Late 70s, the local Chinese restaurant across the main road were caught 3 times, before they were closed down for good, serving Cat meat obtained from the stray cats in the neighbourhood.

From our balcony, we saw the Health Services raids every time as well as the protests and attacks from the public. It put us off Chinese takeaways for a decade, until we moved to another area.

By then, I was working for the Health Services so, I had access to reviews and was able to enjoy Chinese food again...

This had to have been about 30 years ago. I was coming home from doing field work and it was late. I didn't feel like cooking, so I stopped at a Chinese restaurant a couple of towns from where I live. When I got my food, which was a chicken dish...I noticed the meat did not look like any chicken I'd ever seen. I remember as I was leaving I did see a dog on the premises. Being a public health representative, that should have been my clue. I wound up throwing the food away because I wasn't going to drive all the way back there.

I question the validity of this story. What forum did you get that story from, I'm interested in reading the source of your post? Link please , thank you.
Well, I went and checked, seems it was a joke. There's other "Articles" which are so preposterous, as to be obviously a site, but lacking the "Parody" tag.

The one with the woman with crazy eyes and the 169 kill count wasn't bad, but the couple trying a common s. e. x position while driving capped the jar.

I'm not surprised. If people knew what really goes on behind the scenes in restaurant kitchens , they'd eat out a lot less, or not at all.

Thanks for being honest about that, much appreciated. There is enough Asian hate and hate crimes in the United States without spreading propaganda stories about these people. A parody or satire label in the thread would be helpful, because a lot of people, unfortunately, are very likely to fall for these stories.

We have an excellent Chinese restaurant by us that we've been frequenting for many decades, good people, good service, good food. We are lucky they are still there after so many businesses have closed since Covid.

I hope you're not assuming anything about these people. Our Chinese restaurant has employees who make deliveries, there are several of them that we see often and are familiar with. Always on time, polite, correct orders and we show our appreciation by tipping well. Much rather have them than GrubHub, Postmates, etc.

This is disgusting, killing pets and serving them to people as something else is awful.

However dog has been eaten throughout human history and if done right I am not sure its wrong. Got me curious though and apparently it is pretty much illegal in the US:

On 20 December 2018, the federal Dog and Cat Meat Trade Prohibition Act was signed into law as part of the 2018 Farm Bill. It bans slaughtering dogs and cats for food in the United States, with exceptions for Native American rituals.

But practiced elsewhere - Paris 1910:

To us, dogs/cats are pets, to others they're din-dins. After all, you are munching on once living animals, too. But I doubt that applies to people using dog for a cheap source of meat, passing as more acceptable meat.. And I don't think Chinese restaurants are the only ones that use dog/cat. It's more of an urban legion they do,

Years ago, when I was stationed in Thailand, I went to a couple of the restaurants in the nearby town. Each time, I wound up with a good belly ache and diarrhea the next day. Then one of the guys suggested that I visit the local meat market...and that was an education. Meat hanging on hooks in a hot tent. with workers scraping off the bugs and mold etc., before they sold it. After that, I ate on base.

I would bet that some people have unknowingly consumed meat like dog and cat from certain ethnic restaurants.
