You Chip A Dinner Plate

What do you do with it, do you just throw it out or keep it for another use, or a spare.

If it's a teeny tiny chip I keep it just in case. Or use it as a catch basin under a plant.
Depends on my situation. Right now I've got plenty of plates and am getting tired of the set, so I'd probably trash it.

When it comes to clear glass storage bowls with slight chips, if I can file down any sharp edges, I keep them. Otherwise, out they go.

I have Corelle and it chips. The advantage is that I can replace the pieces very easily. Publix (my supermarket) and Amazon carry it. I believe the quality has not changed and it is relatively inexpensive.

It's funny how a casual mention of something (by me in this case) can set me off. My Corelle still looks as good as ever and it's never chipped, not at all. Then old aunt said how old her Corelle is and I know mine is old but not how old, so I'm off on an Internet search. Turns out mine is from the 80s, according to Pinterest, the pattern is called Angles and it's considered vintage. It was made by Corning. Strangely enough this old stuff is being sold by the piece on websites that cater to that kind of thing. It doesn't bring enough to bother selling mine and I don't need more. :D

Lee, if you want to replace your chipped dinner plate you probably can find it on the Internet no matter what brand or pattern it is.

It may not chip easily, but does EXPLODE. I know from first hand experience.
Was it in the microwave when it exploded?

Does anyone remember Melmac?

Yes I remember Melmac, didn't they give it away in laundry soap boxes at the time. It scratched badly and when it fell it did not break but made sort of a ringing sound.
Yes, they did give it away in detergent boxes. I had forgotten that. The dishes were shiny and pretty colors but that didn't stay that way. They were easily scratched and got before long. I think the last one we had was used as a pet dish.

We used to get glasses and all sorts of things as incentives at the gas stations too.
