King Charles III, a life of service

The monarch, 74, uses the initial R after his name to signify Rex, Latin for king. So his new pink tie would appear to be an in-joke and a play on Tyrannosaurus rex."
A quiet sense of humour. Love it.

"King Charles on Tuesday met with volunteers in London who are helping to send aid to quake-stricken regions in Turkey and Syria. The two nations were devastated after a powerful 7.8-magnitude earthquake hit last week, killing more than 42,000 people. The King started by visiting a west London charity that is coordinating aid to be sent over before heading to a pop-up support center in Trafalgar Square. King Charles appeared visibly upset while talking to members of the Syrian diaspora, including a former White Helmet volunteer rescue worker."

King Charles III pays tribute to Ukraine’s ‘courage and resilience’

Story by Max Foster • Yesterday 8:17 AM

Britain’s King Charles has commended the people of Ukraine for showing “truly remarkable courage and resilience in the face of such human tragedy,” in a message marking 12 months of conflict in the country.

“It has now been a year that the people of Ukraine have suffered unimaginably from an unprovoked full-scale attack on their nation,” the monarch said in a statement Friday.

“They have shown truly remarkable courage and resilience in the face of such human tragedy. The world has watched in horror at all the unnecessary suffering inflicted upon Ukrainians, many of whom I have had the great pleasure of meeting here in the UK and, indeed, across the world, from Romania to Canada.”

The King added that it was “heartening” to see the UK and its allies “doing everything possible to help at this most difficult time.”

King Charles reaffirmed his support to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, whom he met at Buckingham Palace earlier this month, and expressed his “personal support” for the people of Ukraine.

When Zelensky was in London in early February, he praised Britain for its steadfast support of his homeland in the year since Russia’s unprovoked invasion. Standing in the historic surroundings of Westminster Hall – the oldest part of the Palace of Westminster, where the late Queen Elizabeth II lay in state a few months before – he namechecked former Prime Minister Boris Johnson, an early and steadfast supporter, and commended UK lawmakers for their “strong British character.”

Prince William and Kate Middleton are "mulling over" whether their 9-year-old son will be part of the May 6 crowning ceremony, according to The Telegraph. The outlet reports that the Prince and Princess of Wales "are still considering what would be best for their son given the attention he will inevitably get at an event covered by the media across the world" and want to ensure "the pressure of a formal role will not be too great."

King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla arrived to meet royal fans and members of the public in Colchester to mark the town gaining its new city status.

The pair paid a visit to Colchester Library to meet with Age UK volunteers and cut a huge cake after meeting with service users and staff from the organization, over afternoon tea. The pair appeared to be the ultimate cake cutting double act as they held the knife together and looked at one another with a smile and a giggle. After managing to cut a slice, the new monarch proudly waved his knife in the air as their audience applauded.

The royal pair also shared the special news of what Colchester Zoo's new white rhino calf will be called. A sign confirming that the exciting new arrival at the zoo will be called Dara was unveiled by Charles and Camilla.

King Charles III has a new steed to call his own.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) announced in a press release on Saturday that it gifted the 74-year-old royal a new horse named Noble, a 7-year-old black mare that stands 16.2 hands tall, to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the RCMP.

King Charles III was snapped meeting the mare for the first time earlier this week at the British Royals' equestrian stables, The Royal Mews in Windsor.

In the photos, he stood proudly next to Noble, who had been adorned with a brown saddle and black furs, as well as a saddle blanket with the King's royal symbol printed in red, navy and gold. The horse's bridle featured intricate gold chains intertwining with dark brown leather, and a golden crown symbol was sewn into the leather placed on the horse's head.

A press release from the RCMP explained that Noble’s journey to the Royal Family was to celebrate both the 150th anniversary of the RCMP, and the upcoming coronation of King Charles III in May.

“The RCMP has had the honour of enjoying a strong, personal relationship with the Royal Family for over a century,” RCMP Comissioner Brenda Lucki said in the release. “As we mark our organization's 150th anniversary this year, and look ahead to the coronation of our new monarch in the spring, it seems only fitting that we mark these dual milestones with the gift of Noble to His Majesty King Charles III this year.”

Noble is set to take over as the King’s charger horse, but not until another horse gifted by the RCMP retires.

I dunno...

King Charles and the word 'fascinating' in the same sentence?

Isn't that a bit like calling a lamp post 'captivating'?

King Charles III reportedly planning a State visit to Ireland this summer

A visit by King Charles III to Ireland would be highly important and send a clear signal on Irish-British relations, a former Ambassador said.

Feelings for Aristocrats Over the Wait for an Invitation

It’s starting to make some aristocrats rather nervous that they won’t make the cut since the invite list is dramatically downsized from Queen Elizabeth II’s ceremony 70 years ago.

A source told the Daily Mail just how “excruciating” the wait is right now as many question whether they are truly a part of the royal family’s inner circle. “Some of them are furious, especially those who have made rather a lot about their royal friendships over the years,” the insider shared. “They’re finding the wait excruciating. And, for some, it’s going to end in humiliation.”

The Queen’s coronation in 1953 had over 5,000 attendees, but Charles, who is looking to keep the palace budget as low as possible, is going to max out the crowd at around 2,000 people — with priority invitations reportedly going to the royal patronages.

One A-list rapper has said he’d love to participate in the historic coronation, and so many fans want to see it happen.

Any guesses? Alright, we’ll tell you: it’s Snoop Dogg.

Now, Snoop Dogg has had a bit of a spotted past with the UK. Back in 2006, he was arrested for an altercation at Heathrow Airport in London, and was banned from the country until the charges were dropped soon after. Along with that, back in 1994, he faced murder charges he was later acquitted of, per Billboard. But here’s the thing: Snoop Dogg always had at least one major Royal supporter by his side: the late Queen Elizabeth II!

“When they tried to kick me out of England, the Queen made a comment that her grandbabies loved Snoop Doggy Dogg, and he had done no wrong in Britain, so she gave me permission to be here,” he said in 2015 to The Guardian. “Those grandbabies grew up to be Prince William and Harry, so I had influence on them, and they had influence on their grandmother, which enabled me to get into this beautiful country. They love my music, and it is what it is. There’s a mutual love and respect.”

So not only does Snoop Dogg reportedly have the seal of approval from the late monarch, but from the Prince of Wales and Duke of Sussex!

Acts like Elsewhere, Take That, and sisters Kylie and Dannii Minogue are reportedly already set to perform for the coronation, and fans are seriously hoping a spot opens up for the Grammy-nominated rapper.

King Charles wraps up triumphant state visit to Germany

March 31, 2023 Hamburg, Germany

"Another week, another royal trip. This week, we joined King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla as they embarked on their historic first joint state visit abroad."

The royal limousine and King's convoy, along with a police escort, made their way towards the Brandenburg Gate for a ceremonial welcome.

"The royal couple flew into Berlin on Wednesday afternoon with two Luftwaffe Typhoon jets escorting the flight as it entered German airspace. Having traveled on a fair few royal flights over the years, we can’t remember a time when the aircraft received such a reverential welcome. But it should have tipped us off that Germany was going to pull out all the stops in the days ahead."

"There was a clear structure to the trip, with day one focused on pomp and pageantry, day two concentrated on politics and the final day centered around reconciliation and the future. The overarching theme illustrated the unshakable bond between the two nations. The royal couple certainly had a packed schedule, but there were a few engagements focused on Ukraine and the environment that spoke to their priorities."

“In the long and remarkable story of our two countries, there are many chapters yet unwritten. Let us fill these with the restless pursuit of a better tomorrow. The legacy of our past, and the great promise of our future, demand nothing less,” Charles said Thursday while making history as the first British monarch to address the German parliament while it was in session.

Speaking in German, the King said he and the Queen Consort had been "deeply touched" by the warm welcome and praised the "very special" German nation.

King Charles III’s wife has been officially identified as Queen Camilla for the first time, with Buckingham Palace using the title on invitations for the monarch’s May 6 coronation.

Camilla, who until now has been described as queen consort, is given equal billing on the ornate medieval style invitations that will be sent to more than 2,000 guests and were unveiled on Tuesday.

Camilla will be crowned alongside her husband on May 6 at Westminster Abbey.

King Charles Wants Princess Charlotte to Take New Royal Title—Book

Veteran royal reporter and biographer Robert Jobson claims in his new book, Our King: Charles III: The Man and The Monarch Revealed, that the king was "thrilled" when William and Kate welcomed a baby daughter into their family in 2015, two years after the birth of their eldest child, Prince George.

The author continued that Charles is keen to one day elevate Charlotte, aged seven, from a princess to a royal duchess in her own right.

"As the King, Charles plans to honour his granddaughter and the change in hereditary law by granting her the title Duchess of Edinburgh, one of the most senior royal dukedoms in the Royal Family, on her wedding day."

By making Charlotte a duchess in her own right (royal dukedoms are traditionally bestowed on male members of the royal family to be passed down the male line) it would see the princess rank equally with her brothers, who if tradition is followed, would be made dukes on their wedding day, as was the case with Princes William and Harry.

Anointing of King Charles III at coronation will not be shown on TV

iu

"The sacred anointing of King Charles III will not be screened on television during the coronation ceremony on Saturday 6 May."

"Palace sources have confirmed to multiple outlets that the King will follow in his mother’s footsteps by barring cameras from filming the moment he will be anointed with holy oil by the Archbishop of Canterbury."

"During the late Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation in 1953, she was seated in the ceremonial Coronation Chair under the canopy, which was held up by four Knights of the Garter."

"When the anointing took place, however, the canopy was adjusted to shield her from public view. The late Queen’s coronation was the first to be televised in full, except for the moment of the anointing."

"According to The Times, a royal source said: “Precedent has never been for it to be a publicly viewable moment, given its sanctity. A way has been found to ensure that remains the case this time.”

" Global music icons are set to dominate a celebration concert for the coronation of King Charles III on May 7. The first performers announced to take the stage at Windsor Castle include pop icons Lionel Richie and Katy Perry, the British band Take That and singer-songwriter Freya Ridings."

“To share the stage with the other performers at The Coronation Concert is a once-in-a-lifetime event and it will be an honor and a celebration,” Richie said in a statement on Friday. The “We Are The World” charity single co-writer, who was recently inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, was earlier named as the first global ambassador for The Prince’s Trust, a key charity for King Charles III and so was widely tipped to perform at the coronation celebration."

All the Boys Who Will Be Pages of Honor at King Charles III’s Coronation

"When King Charles III and Queen Camilla are officially coronated this May, eight young boys will stand beside them as pages of honor."

"Buckingham Palace announced that amongst the king's pages will be his eldest grandson, Prince George, who is second in line to the British throne. With him will be Lord Oliver Cholmondeley, Master Nicholas Barclay, and Master Ralph Tollemache."

"Meanwhile, the queen consort's pages will be her grandsons, Master Gus, Master Louis Lopes, and Master Freddy Parker Bowles; as well as her great-nephew, Master Arthur Elliot."

"The eight pages will attend to the king and queen consort during the service at Westminster Abbey and will participate in activities such as the carrying of the ceremonial robes."

King Charles speaks of pride in his sons at Sandhurst Sovereign's Parade
AA19REF9.img

"The King has spoken of his pride in his sons as he attended his first passing out parade at Sandhurst since becoming monarch. Charles attended the Royal Military Academy in Berkshire on Friday for the 200th Sovereign's Parade, where he inspected the 171 officer cadets who are being commissioned as army officers after completing 44 weeks of intensive training. "

"Addressing the crowds while wearing full military uniform, the King said he spoke “as a father of two alumni of this academy”, and that he knew the “immense pride” they would be feeling. The Prince of Wales and Duke of Sussex both successfully graduated as officer cadets from the world famous military academy, before going on to have their own careers in the Armed Forces."

‘You would probably never notice’: The subtle sign King Charles is unhappy or stressed.
iu

A former royal butler who previously worked for King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla has revealed how to tell when the monarch is displeased. Grant Harrold, who worked for the then-Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall from 2004 to 2011, said he never saw the royal get “angry” but has seen him when he was stressed.

He said that now, even after more than a decade since he last worked for the couple, he can tell when the King is “unhappy” by simply watching him on television. Asked what the monarch’s signs were, Harrold told The Independent: “It’s in his mannerisms. He’ll just suddenly [look left and right], he’ll be fidgeting a little bit and kind of look all around, it’s quite interesting.”

Harrold mimed shifting in his seat and continued: “It looks like this, like he’s just getting comfortable [in his chair], but actually he’s not happy.”

The former butler said that the most stressed he has ever seen the King was the period immediately after the death of his mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II. At the time, the new monarch was branded “petulant” by some critics for his attitude.

However, Harrold sympathised with the King and said: “Losing both parents so quickly, and then having to carry on doing stuff in front of people – that was probably the most stressed I’ve ever seen him.”

"The coronation of King Charles III will take place on Saturday, May 6 beginning at 11 a.m. UTC, or 5 a.m. ET for American viewers. ABC News and Good Morning America will have special coverage of the coronation on Saturday, May 6, from 5 to 10 a.m. ET. Following the ceremony, there will be a concert featuring the musical talents of Lionel Richie and Katy Perry, among others. "
