What have you bought recently?

Just so you know: I bought nothing today (because I didn't go anywhere to spend money). Besides, after paying federal tax yesterday... Thank goodness tomorrow is the day Rocking Chair Money* hits my account. Then Thursday, bakery paycheck hits. I'll be in the chips...

*for the uninformed, Rocking Chair Money is Social Security
LOL..I worked that out... but you never spend anything anyway... I'm going to put your profile up for the Toy boys ( you call them Boy toys in the USA I think)... Rich widow , dab hand at making croissants.. seeks toy boy to rock her chair.. :sneaky::ROFLMAO:

Hang on, kids! Today before I left the store, I spent money on a half gallon of milk and a $100 Home Depot gift card because the gift card purchase gives 2x fuel points. Yay me. Total came to $101.83.

That gift card is gonna buy flowers as soon as the weather gets warm again.

According to the governor's office, the $250 the budget is giving everybody will arrive in 6-8 weeks.

I haven't bought anything physical today ..got my vitamins, and Screen cleaner spray delivered.

Got to pay my Water bill yet...not going to pay it early so the water company gets the interest on my money.. but within the next 2 weeks will do...

It's been Budget day today, and the Chancellor of the ExChequer has put almost everything up in price as they almost always do, including alcohol, and cigarettes .. but the good news is that energy prices which were due to rise again on April 1st won't until June.. and Fuel prices

However I was stunned to learn that a single pack of 20 cigarettes ( not a carton...a single pack) ... is now going to cost over £13... that's approx $15.70 US

How on earth can people afford to smoke.. and I see them all the time.. and mainly tbh people who look like they are the ones who probably least afford it..

I see old Sears Kenmore chest freezers in lots of restaurants, farms. They will run forever. They are probably in people's homes too, chugging along.
You won't get anything like that anymore.
Tell me about it. Had to put all my frozen food at my brothers. (loaded it all in coolers). He has a sears chest freezer thats 25 years old and still going strong. (sigh). I had one (17 years and worked great) in my house in Arkansas that's now just a burnt lump of metal.

I am just curious, @hollydolly
if the tax money charged for cigarettes, goes directly to help fund the national healthcare system's budget, to address the resultant costs.???
In a word No..! No doubt some of it goes towards the NHS... but most of it NO... where it is spent is on other public services...apparently.

We in the UK have the highest taxation for smokers.. on an average pack of 20 cigarettes costing between £12- £13.. the tax is between 82% & 90 %...

Very interesting. Thank you for the reply, Holly!

Bought myself a new cell phone. I do not use it a lot, so have a Tracphone...where I buy an annual supply of minutes.
Just finished setting it up. For the first time, needed help. I bought the phone on line and had some difficulty. Ended up taking it to Walmart to help. What happened I was muddling along, and suddenly the screen went dark, and could not figure how to brighten it. Even the clerk was a bit confused, but got me in so I could finish set up. Still took me a bit..but got my contacts and pictures transfered over. Yay for me

Set up my new Apple Watch and strap. It’s lighter than my series 5 yet it seems heavier. It’s slightly deeper. Tonight I’ll test the Sleep app.
Nice, My kids gave me a Samsung Active watch... It's nice, but have never worn watches my entire life, and just not a big fan of them, my cell phone tells me exactly what I do in exercise and calories, and etc...They gave one to Lorie, she loves it...
A family wedding is coming up. Few will be looking at me and I already own a number of fancy outfits, so I didn't want to buy something else. Most sleeveless though, and my upper arms aren't as lithe and lovely as they once were. The curse of age-related crepey skin.

I didn't want to deal with making the decision about wearing heels or flats and hose or no hose, so am opting for the stunning black jumpsuit I wore to my son's wedding four years ago.

This morning I ordered a lacy purple shrug to wear with it. It will add a little color and cover my arms but the pretty bodice details will still show through. Plus I can wear fancy black flats and black tights underneath if the weather is going to be cool.
Win, win, win.

Amazon says it will arrive tomorrow, I'll try on the ensemble right away to see how it looks. If not, the purple shrug is returnable and I'll still have time to pivot.

Very beautiful, Great choice...
@mike4lorie, I learned along time ago to step back and let them at it. I think the funniest time was when my husband and a couple of friends were putting new tile in a bath. They called me into to look at it. I said "I love it but aren't the pipes supposed to stick out for the new fixtures?" Let's say they had to revise their work! LOL
Yeah, I've done a few jobs like that myself... I find it's a way of learning, but most women chuckle and laugh when a man does something like that... I am just happy I can give them something to chuckle about, but it always ends up perfect when done...
Got my nails done today... it gets more expensive every time I go... ... then groceries... and bought a sweatshirt for 1/2 price in the sale..
So, what colour are your nails? French manicure? Just love when Lorie does her nails like that... Sure it will be happening when she leaves for Florida next Wednesday... Nails were always one of the first things I notice on a Lady... I always said, if they take care of their nails, then they take very good care of themselves... Anyways, that's just me...
Went shopping at Walmart this afternoon for some groceries and about $450.00 in wet & dry cat food.
$450 for wet and dry cat food? That cat eats better than I do... haha
I bought a couple of lipsticks from Amazon. They were a brand I like and they were incredibly cheap! I haven’t been wearing makeup since Covid began and I threw most of it away since it’s been 3 years now. It was nice to put on a lipstick again. I felt pretty.
So @Marian, What shades of colour did you buy?

After the gym yesterday, Lorie and I stopped at a department store to buy a scale... Get a key cut a couple of times... and I always look in the sales area... That is where we got our fireplace for our theatre room for a very good price... Anyways there was a patio set, lounging couch, table, and two rocking chairs made out of aluminum, so they won't rust. It was normally $1399. and was on sale for $599... So, called over a sales lady to make sure the price was right, and she said yup, early spring sale. She said they only had 4 left. Oh, I thought it was the floor model on sale, but nope 4 more at the warehouse in boxes. I said sold... We bought one from Wayfair last spring, I was not happy with it at all. It was a very small set. So, I can put the couch from the set I bought last year on the front deck we put in the front, and now have two extra chairs for visiting company. So, that's our deal for yesterday, we pick it up today or tomorrow when they bring it up from the warehouse...

I'll post pictures when I get it set up and under our gazebo...
