on vacation, back in September.
I always carry a small amount of cash, and always carry 'one' credit card in my wallet.
Life long habit. How about you?

I'm so broke, I can't "pay" attention.I always carry a small amount of cash, and always carry 'one' credit card in my wallet.

Same here, cash is king. My debit card is simply for withdrawing cash from an ATM. There is no loyalty card in my wallet, nor will there ever be. Like debit and credit cards, loyalty cards primary function is to harvest the holders spending habits, from that a profile is made, a profile which can be traded. My habit of cash purchasing has had results in that I am never plagued by sales canvassers. No texts, no emails, no glossy flyers in the mail, nothing. I don't exist.I only carry cash unless I'm going to the bank to withdraw money. I refuse to shop at the stores which only take cards. We must keep the option open for cash.
I understand what you are doing and why, but what bothers me, is that is one thing I am sure they are looking at for a digital wallet, so they are going to think they can get us all off cash, and then are able to control us easier...i now leave my debit and credit cards at home and use my phone for most payments when out and about. It's easy for someone to use one of my cards before I have a chance to cancel them should I lose my wallet (which I did three years ago). Should I lose my phone, no one can use my cards connected to it unless someone happens to chop off one of my fingers to unlock it !
I agree ! I do carry cash also and I think it is wrong for establishments not to accept cash. It goes against having our trust in the US dollar which is a dangerous thing. On the flip side, there is a very popular breakfast spot down the road from me that only accepts cash. There is an ATM machine located right inside the entrance. I have no issues with that but like I said, I do have issues with places that don't accept cash at all.I understand what you are doing and why, but what bothers me, is that is one thing I am sure they are looking at for a digital wallet, so they are going to think they can get us all off cash, and then are able to control us easier...
I always try to have cash on me, plus in my wallet are two credit cards, and a debit card... But I still try to pay with cash... It's not just our buying power we will lose, but it will stop us from buying things @ garage sales or paying to have work done, the Government will know exactly what we are doing from minute to minute...
This is why I got a second credit card. I had just one for years. But it got shut down by the company. I was informed of this through the mail and they were issuing me another immediately. They were on it. But I thought 'what if I was about to take a trip and didn't have the card?' So I got another through my bank as backup. That's the one I don't use much. Two credit cards and some cash. Almost never have coins anymore, just bills. I rarely use the cash for retail transactions. Two credit cards incase one has a problem.
I have no heard of anyplace in my area that does not take cash. I've heard of places that are cashless in San Francisco. I'm in a larger town but not a city. We've had self check outs temporarily not take cash in some stores. I'd be lost without cash. I'd have to get used to it I guess.debit card, credit card , and cash ...i hardly use cash now, as not many places like it , since covid years ,when we were not allowed to use it ....
