That's the way it is here.Where I live, once you're 70 or older, you can be excused for medical reasons and don't have to prove it either or even specify what the medical problems are. (Under 70, you have to provide a letter from a medical professional.)
I got a number of jury summons over the years, went twice but never chosen. I had to make a lot of excuses to get out of showing, for business reasons. I used to hate being called, I didn't have the time. Now that I'm retired I'd be happy to do it, but no longer seem to get called...I was summoned to serve at the beginning of this month for two weeks. Call in on Friday and see if you need to come in the following week. Both Fridays I got a text telling me I didn't need to come in. Needless to say I was not disappointed.
Yes, I‘ll be 72 next month and recently got a jury summons. I live in California and got out of it forever by calling and and telling them my age and all the reasons I can’t be on jury duty (they didn’t care)Yes, in our town you can get off the hook at 70. My past experience? There are people who are dying to get selected: they always give the perfect answers in jury selection, whether true or not. On the other end, there are people who hate it and give always wrong answers, like being very prejudiced and already have made up their mind about everything. In my experience, jury selection is a joke.
