Canceled My Netflix Subscription Temporarily

I do this from time to time for a minimum of a couple of months. Netflix makes it easy to restart a subscription. If it's done within 10 months they will leave your watchlist, profile and account details in tact. I canceled because I'm not watching much on Netflix right now since I have 5 other streaming services I'm more interested in now. I have 9 days in which to finish watching a couple of docs I started months ago and got away from. I'll also watch a couple of the movies in my watchlist, since Netflix does remove things from their catalog. One of them will be Persuasion, which seems like it will be similar to Bridgerton.

Do you have Netflix? What are you watching on Netflix? Have you ever canceled then re-subscribed?

I cancel Netlix when I run out of things that interest me and jump to another service such as Hulu and HBO/Max. I just rotate around between the 4 major services and never subscribe to more than two at the same time. I even tried going back in time for a month and only did the Netflix DVD plan but that didn't work out that well. .The nice thing about the different services is that you can cancel at anytime and go back to them at anytime.

I got a deal on Peacock+ $19.99 for the year, so I won't be doing a temporary cancel on that one like I had planned. MetroPCS pays for my
Amazon Prime, so I keep that. Hulu is also a keeper because most of my favorite shows are on it and I watch World News Tonight faithfully and sometimes GMA. Hulu has come a long way but they still do need to improve their movie selection, although it's much better than it used to be. I started out with Netflix DVD plan. It became a hassle to go back and forth to the post office. Was so glad when streaming became a thing.

I had trouble when I canceled Paramount+. I had to create a new account which worked out well for me. I got the free trial again. I don't know if that's something that will happen each time I cancel, but if so, it's a good thing I have several email addresses. :) But they think they are slick. They split the seasons of my favorite P+ shows so that I almost always have to keep the service. Now they've added a new show that I really like...Wolf Pack.

I mostly watch shows via DirecTV on HBO, Showtime, HGTV and ID. My partner has Netflix and we have gotten to Season 3 of Stranger Things. We also watch old episodes of Kath & Kim, an Australian comedy, that we watched back in the early 2000's. Lastly, we are closing out the Guillermo Del Toro series Cabinet of Curiosities. It's like watching the Twilight Zone. I've only begun to discover Netflix.

Kath and Kim is a riot, isn't it?

I'll have to check out Cabinet of Curiosities. I was a big TZone fan (the original). I watch my HGTV shows ad free on Discovery+. and I love it !
What HGTV shows do you watch. I'm watching How Close Can I Beach and Beachfront Bargain Hunters right now, but other shows are on my Watchlist. I started out with House Hunters, then the International version many moons ago when I first started watching HGTV but dropped those shows when they added the waterfront home buying shows and now there are many of those.

We watch either House Hunters or House Hunters International every night during dinner. It's the same formula... "I want modern, I want classic, I want close to town, I want the country" but it's still fun. We also watch Fixer to Fabulous and Home Town. We loved the "competitions" where they would have several sets of home remodelers come in and compete for the best house.

We don't watch beachfront shows because we lived in Miami and were happy to move away. Insurance on beachfront properties is so expensive these days due to climate change. That said, we will check these out!

I cancelled my Netflix subscription for a while, but then they released a documentary/concert of Creedence Clearwater Revival — one of my favorite bands, so I re-subscribed. And then they had some other movies that I wanted to watch, so I kept it. I still hate their Roku app, though... more specifically, their autoplay and sound effects that you can't turn off.

I didn't know you could easily cancel and re-subscribe. That's interesting.

I can only afford one movie-watching subscription. After much deliberation, I chose YouTube Premium. Maybe not the best TV or movie selection, but it has everything else (how-to and educational videos, etc.).

And although Netflix seems to have a wide selection, it doesn't really, unless you're not fussy at all.

I watch Stranger Things, Wednesday, Cabinet of Curiosities, Beastars, and a number of horror movies such as Viking Wolf on Netflix. For my tastes I consider the service superior to Amazon Prime at this point in time. With regular cable pretty dismal lately, I’m glad to have Netflix, and watch something on it almost every night. The subscription with ads is reasonably priced, and the ads are fewer in number than on regular TV… 📺

I have both netlix and amazon prime. I must admit I only have the both set up in the front room. I have the equipment to add the amazon in the den but I have not been able to make it work. Have to wait for the son and grandson to fix me up.

Every time I think I should take a break on the netflix, I remember the kids use my account. I do not want to take that option away from the grandson. Then, finally a new show will come that I enjoy. So nope, I have not cancelled anything yet, but I have not take on anything new.

I have a problem with most streaming services because very few of their new shows appeal to me. You can also get burned because some of the new shows you do like get abruptly cancelled because not enough people are watching them!

I invariably look for older movies and shows. I just got finished bingeing "NCIS," all twenty seasons, and got so addicted to it that I find it hard to watch other shows now! The spin offs don't do the same for me. Maybe Law and Order might be next? :)

I agree with you about Prime Fyrefox. Amazon has a ways to go before they are even equal to other platforms. I don't care that much for their interface but it's much better than it was. I only have Prime because I'm getting it free via MetroPCS.
@Blessed you're like me. Sometimes I need my son to help me with techy stuff. How sweet of you to keep the service for your children and grandson. I'd do the same.

I have HBO with Crave and also Amazon Prime which I consider a bargain seeing you get delivery too. l may tag on Paramount yet.
Paramount+ is great if you like Cop shows! I can't get warm to the Crave/HBO contents. Must be for a different age group. I pay a, to me, outrageous amount in order to watch two weekly shows: Bill Maher and "Last Week Tonight" with John Oliver! I did love all the James Bond and Harry Potter movies, though! Thanks, Crave!

I don't have netflix or any streaming service. I only have a basic expanded cable with the phone and internet bundle. I think the cost for just that is ridiculous. And there is hardly anything decent to watch. The on demand is missing some recent episodes also.

If I ever move, I wouldn't mind figuring out how to get netflix. I'd like to have it. My TV is 2009 so I guess not a smart TV. I'm surprised it's lasted this long and I don't want to replace it unless it stops working.

Great shows. We have watched the first 2 seasons of Stranger Things and are headed into the third. We watched the entire season of Cabinet of Curiosities as well. It was a mixed bag. Some episodes were great. Others, not so great.

There are some really good shows on cable. We've watched Your Honor, Yellowjackets, The Last Of Us, The Gilded Age and The Righteous Gemstones, to name a few. They were all really compelling shows, which is why we have Netflix but keep DirectTV as well.

A couple of members have mentioned Cabinet of Curiosities. I will have to check it out when I re-subscribe. Stranger Things really hooked me right from the beginning. Those young people are amazing!

If your TV has an HDMI port, you can buy a Roku...my last one cost $19.99 (one time cost) but that was a special and you may have to pay a little more. Then subscribe to Netflix ($11.99 a month). According to something I read, HDMI connections became standard in the early 2000s so it's possible your TV has one.

I‘m in BC. Crave/HBO only gives me really old episodes of these shows.

I have seen some good series. I think Perry Mason was on this and a new season has just been released.

HH . HHI . and Home Town are my faves.
I save them so I can ff through the commercials.

Their wanting of different things is over done at times.

When I hear about something special, or when I know something is special, I will sign up for a month or two on where ever it happens to be, but I only allow myself one streaming venue at a time. Most of the offerings on any service are of no interest to me, or I already have them in my private library. So it's senseless for me to have 6 streaming services at once, which only gives more options of things I don't want to watch.

Netflix offers the short series, the Queens Gambit which was so good I found a rather limited version and bought it. It was expensive for a two disk set, but 4 months without Netflix and I paid for it. And I didn't have to waste my time sifting through unwatchable stuff. I am currently with Hulu, because it airs the new episodes of the Good Doctor (another episode will be out today). I have purchased the previous seasons, and I will purchase this one after it's out. Ordinarily I wait for the DVDs, but The Good Doctor is worth it to me, and I'll stick with Hulu until the end of the season. I'm having a hard time finding other things on Hulu, but I'm slowly working my way through the X Files for the first time. It's getting better, but not good enough to binge watch.

I don't know what service to take next. I usually go several months without a service, but I have plenty in my personal library, and a book or two in the meantime. Before Netflix went to streaming, they had a rental service that dwarfed the combined libraries of all current streaming services combined. The rental service is still available but with skeletal offering of what it once was, and it's shoddy, with disks that are old, abused, and often don't work and TV series that are incomplete. I won't go back to that one.

For the money I don't spend on streaming, I can buy a lot of disks, and over the years, that's a lot.
