Google's New Laws

Supernatural

Senior Member
Earlier this month, after hearing it via Sky and BBC news, that Google had passed some new laws restricting certain games and videos off the Google Play Store for Android and YouTube.

I've seen drastic changes on both platforms since. First, I was told my settings in YouTube were changing. A week later, and now I've lost access to all PEGI18+ Games via my Google Play Store.

I don't understand how else I'm supposed to change or update my profiles accounts. As with my Gmail accounts, all have my current birthdate proving I'm well over 18+.

I've never believed that such a popular Android service would cut me off and others here in the UK.

At 62 years old with my birthday in less than a fortnight, I never imagined I'd be treated that way...

Being a senior was supposed to be easy... Shitaki mushrooms...

Anyone else experiencing the same? Or knows what to do or contact in order to get this fix?

PS my daughter who's half my age can play all the 18+ games but one she plays remains like this:

"This Item Isn't Available"

We have the same tablet, same version and her email accounts show her birthday the same way as mine. Frustrated? You bet... It's so silly right?

Sorry to see that you are having trouble, Supernatural, it could
of course just be factory settings, that your tablet has gone back
to, check out the settings and or "Parental Control" settings.

I have a Google Pixel phone and a Samsung tablet, both Androids,
some things changed slightly, recently, but I don't play games, the
tablet is mainly for reading books and the phone, is a phone, but I
sometimes take a picture with it.

Good luck getting it sorted.

Mike.

I don't use the games so I'm no help, sorry.

Without specific details it's hard to know the nature of the "new laws restricting certain games and videos " of which you speak.

Google constantly evaluates apps and games and such, so to protect the Google Play Store users from downloading software containing malware.

Nope my parental controls aren't set-up never were. The kids only got online after they were 18+. My new tablet, I've checked is on adults no restrictions. I'm waiting on responses from Android geek friend of mine. Cheers!
