Pyjamas at the supermarket?

I thought I was seeing things a few times recently but I have seen an elderly man one time and a young girl another time definitely wearing pyjamas and dressing gowns! In daytime, complete with slippers, in our local supermarket.

Why for goodness sake and is it actually permissable?

What does it matter? Everything is covered.

My sleepwear is almost identical to my daytime clothing, just a bit older or more comfy. So if I take out the garbage or go out on my balcony in my PJs, no one knows. In my avatar photo, I'm in my PJs.

There's a difference between daytime and nighttime. I think getting daytime clothes on is part of the circadian rhythm.
That's just my opinion of course. People can do what they want.

Older people often have problems getting into "day" clothes (ie buttons/zippers/snaps/belts) - much easier, quicker and less frustrating just to wear something comfortable. (ie sports clothes, pull overs, track pants which do not require ironing to look presentable)

I don’t know about permissible, that’s up to the store, but, yes, it’s legal.

When my daughter was in school, they would sometimes have 'pajama day' when the kids could wear pjs to school. They were probably more modest than some of their other outfits, ha ha.

UK is the same. One of our neighbours has gone out in pj's several times. What is the world coming to?

I'm sure I wouldn't object to a well endowed lady wearing see-through PJs standing next to me at the checkout, in fact, I'd likely strike up a conversation with her.

People can dress as they please, but I'm embarrassed for them. I would think a person could get out of their pajamas long enough to throw on something presentable when going out.

We grew up..that My Mother taught us..
When going out..you had to look like a band box. Nothing less acceptable.

Just last week I saw a young woman with young girl in tow, both wearing PJs and bedroom slippers.

I just laughed to myself.

Have to admit, since retiring, I no longer have different clothes for sleeping and daytime. This time of year it's sweat pants and a long sleeve tee shirt. In summer shorts and a short sleeve tee shirt. Works to sleep in, and is ok for most of the places I go now adays.

There was a time slightly before my time when a guy had on a jacket and tie to go to the grocery store. Quite a change!

I;ve not seen it in my area.. thank goodness, but I've certainly seen reports of it in the papers and on FB etc... disgusting, that people get out of bed, clearly don't shower.. otherwise they wouldn't be in pyjamas then have the damn nerve to go into a supermarket and handle the produce. Supermarkets should ban entry to them as they do for people without shirts

No idea..but the other day I saw a mum wearing pyjamas on the school run.

It was common, when I lived in Adelaide, South Australia .. to see people in PJ's/bathrobes/slippers, in
grocery marts and medical waiting rooms. I sort of got used to it.

What I couldn't get over, was people who went barefoot everywhere. Imagine the yukky stuff on the ground.
