I stated it that way..because it's a 'real' change...

Curtains vs. blinds...

Not just any...but what is called plantation blinds.

Since it's such a change...

Does anyone have...what do you think.. recommend?

How will I know if I will likešŸ¤”

Big decision?

Help!

One thing to consider is whether you want your room to be dark, especially early in the morning. I’ve stayed in hotels with the plantation blinds and hated the light streaming in. Even in the middle of the night, some light can stream in from street lights.

I love the look of the blinds. They do let in a lot of light even at night as Jules pointed out. Dusting is not easy either.

Seems like heavy drapery is falling out of style in favour of lighter sheers or valance only.

I find that if I look at Pinterest you can get an idea there by looking at the pics of what you like and what you really really like.

i don't know what the rest of your decor is but, I think blinds, (plantation blinds) will give a clean, contemporary
look to your home. I've always disliked drapes and most curtains. (unless your kitchen is 1930's style, then it would be cute)

My suggestion? Stand in your doorway, as if you were just walking into the house. Ask yourself, "Does it look like
an old woman lives here"? Drapes and curtains tend to "age" a home. You want your home to be an expression of YOU!

If you could send us pictures of your interior as it is now, we might get a better idea of what would look the best, but without
pictures, I'd say, Go with the blinds! It will update your home into a younger, fresher look!

My stepfather's manufactured home has the plantation blinds/shutters. I'd love to have those. I like blinds. That manufactured place I made an offer on (the seller took it off the market) had those cloth roll up shades, not the old traditional ones but an accordian type. All I could see was my cat's claws in those things.

The blinds in my bedroom are broke. I have to pull them up by hand.

I have blinds in every room in the house.. they're white wood.. ... they're not planation shutters however, but Planation are very popular here most of my neighbours have them .

ETA.. I just remembered I have a roller blind in the bathroom.. not wooden venetian..

I have them in two rooms, one of which is my bedroom. I like them very much. I can make it dark very fast, and they add to soundproofing. I also notice in winter, they seem to trap cold air from the window from getting through. When I open them in the morning I feel a little rush of cold air come out.

My father was in the drapery and to a lesser extent the blind business, so I am familiar with both. I much prefer blinds. Our current binds are for the most part white, 30 years old, very sturdy, and look as good as new. Blinds in our bedroom are easily closed before going to bed and morning light is not even a minor issue. Personally, I wouldn't allow draperies or curtains in the house. (-8

I hate blinds. They are hard to clean and dust collectors. I don’t like heavy drapes but love light curtains. Any home that came with blinds had them removed soon after moving in.

I really don't have difficulty cleaning the blinds.. any light dust that accumulates on the slats means I just close the blinds so they're flat against the window and get a fluffy duster , and swipe them clean.. done in about 30 seconds

I prefer blinds and actually think they are much easier to clean than curtains. I use a duster on them. I like that I can keep them closed and adjust them whenever and however I like. Plus I think an entire house done with the same neutral colour can look really elegant and classic looking. Blinds can add more clean cut lines that add more depth and dimension to any size room. ( in my opinion )

I rid my house of all drapes and blinds a few years ago....I now have bamboo shades, I've been very pleased with them.
