The Real NYPD Blue

Interesting, but one thing I wonder about in the last video. The stair climb simulation has handrails on each side which the candidate was using for balance. In real life she might have a gun in her hand so would be unable to use the handrails. Just a thought.

Thank God, somebody wants to be a cop. You have to deal with the public. Have you seen some of them???????????

None on the videos however I've had the distinct pleasure of getting to know a fair number of New York Citys Finest. They were, still are and always will be very dedicated members of the force a/k/a members of the service.

BTW: More to come. Take care and enjoy Sunday.

As a civilian employee of the NY State Police, I've witnessed first hand what policing, protecting our public, and laying lives on the line to do just that involves. I am ever thankful for each and every law enforcement officer....every single day.

Very true. I used to live in Hopewell Junction and met some of the Troop K members assigned to Poughkeepsie, Fishkill and Brewster barracks. I lived a hop, skip and a jump from Stormville Substation but for the most part they were hardly there. Busy on The Taconic Parkway keeping the commuters in line. Nothing like the smell of radar in the morning. It smells like a well deserved speeding ticket on the way to work. Thanks for posing. I'll start a thread on NYSP sometime later this week. Take care.

I found the mounted unit of particular interest as last year the Toronto Mounted Police were brought in for the protests. All televised and so many Canadians were glued to the TV to watch. It was amazing how the horses and police were as one. Hours of standoff in freezing temps and not a whimper of complaint from either.

I have a friend who grew up in Manhattan. She recalls as a child loving the police on horseback in the Park. I grew up near Milwaukee. Our police rode Harley Davidson....Electraglides.

I always admired NYPD Mounted Patrols. Extremely courteous but ready to engage those with hostile intent as a cohesive team to quell any disturbance in very short order. Thanks for posting.

I think both the horses and the motorcycles were a great way for the police to engage with the public. I recall a day when I was crossing a busy street in downtown Milwaukee holding my Dad's hand. When we reached the other side there were two officers with their Harleys parked and standing nearby. My Dad said to me, "look, you can see your reflection in the chrome". So I stepped up to see. One of the officers stepped up and asked if I wanted to sit on the Harley! Who says no to that! I felt very special! I recall it vividly....60 plus years ago.
