Cooking is a mood elevator...

...and when I have big cooking plans it triggers an urge to have a cocktail. I guess I'm not alone with this, as a matter of fact when I was a prep cook in a country club restaurant kitchen, I recall seeing the head chef taking a couple nips of cooking sherry... 🧐

Come to think of it, when I worked for the Sheriff's Dept in the jails, there was a cook that had bonafide chefs training and skills. He started out as an inmate doing time for a DUI, and they worked him in the kitchen as a "special functions" desert preparer. When he finished his sentence and got off probation, they hired him.
Does cooking create a desire to imbibe with you?

Yes, I enjoy having a cocktail while cooking. đŸ„ƒ Especially when dinner is going to take a while to prepare, and I can take my time doing it. My husband and I would cook together on the weekend. I'd whip up cocktails, put the Saturday night “blues show” on the radio, and we'd chat, dance around the kitchen, laugh, and cook. It was great. We had a lot of fun with each other while preparing dinner.

Now, I still enjoy having a cocktail once in a while when making dinner, but it isn't as much fun.

Remember the Galloping Gourmet. He enjoyed his wine while cooking. Eventually he enjoyed it much too much and went to rehab.

I’d rather have a glass of wine while making dinner than with it.
