New York State Police: A Tradition of Honor....The Privilege

You put a lot of work into this presentation and you did a good job. All state police and highway patrol troops go above and beyond their duties. I have dealt with several different troops and have had nothing, but their full cooperation. The men and women of the state police and highway patrols work relentlessly on the highways and to cover the small towns and villages within their state that has no police coverage for their area. They also aid the city police when extra resources are needed.

I wholeheartedly agree. The State Police and Highway Patrol Troopers graduate from their academies tough as nails especially when backup to a scene can be several minutes. Thanks for posting and more to come.

You went to extremes, but you did a great job in bringing out the best of the New York State Police. I have met many on separate occasions. We have even worked together on chases when the perp’s vehicle would go state to state in and out.

Here in PA, we have every resource that the FBI has in Quantico, except for one item. We don’t have a profiler. At least, we didn’t at the time of my retirement. There have been cases where we have had to request the use of one of the FBI’s profilers.

I still work part time at the Academy and also in the Evidence Room labeling and filing evidence to be used in court trials. I am a civilian employee and do not carry a badge. The young cadets are a pita, but we get along very well. I call them Rookie and they call me, Sir. (lol, but true)

When I lived Upstate New York I could hear NYSP and Connecticut State Police on I-84 on MRD (155.37 Mhz) In Central Florida (155.37 Mhz) Inter-City is used. In South Florida (851.0125 MHz) 8CALL90 is used.

Out of courtesy, we will radio to their barracks commander and get their permission to continue a pursuit. I have never known them not to grant it. We still would be able to even without their permission, but unless the perp was a high profile case or a murderer, we may cut off the chase out of respect.
