Singing along at musicals

So a couple of people ruined a musical of The Bodyguard, because they wouldn't stop singing so loudly the performance couldn't complete.
That is just appalling selfish behaviour and should be punished. They ruined the show for everyone.
I would only sing along quietly as long as everyone was doing it and as long as the actors were obviously happy and encouraging this. Anything beyond this is surely not acceptable?

I have been at shows, sometimes folk festivals, where people have talked and laughed so loudly at the bar that their noise ruined the group's performance. That really irritated me.

So what do you think about singing along?

The only time one should join in would be when the lead singer points the Mic to the audience and makes a gesture to join ,otherwise I would not.
I read about that story and i hope the two that ended the show abrutly get banned for life .

I go to the pub instead where we all sing our heads off, to all the old songs, in the old folks snug. 😊

That's a different matter, great fun once you've had a few drinks. Everyone knows they are welcome to sing their hearts out.

We've got a few singers in our pub who are better than some of the singers in those 'shows'. 😊

One of my major irritations is spending a lot of money to see a band in concert. And when it's time for their #1 all time best song, the lead singer sticks the mike out towards the audience, so we can sing the song. I DID NOT SPEND $175 TO HEAR THE TURKEY NEXT TO ME SING THAT SONG.
