Good ir bad chain resturants

I'm not really into chains, but I used to like Wimpy's when in Britain and Burger King, for sentimental reasons, in the states. My little boy always liked BK the best, and some had truly marvelous outdoor & indoor playgrounds.

A restaurant that everyone seems to love but you think is actually not that good....
For me it is Olive Garden, the best thing on the menu is the salad.
My friends and I used to go there at least once a month for soup and salad lunch. I was there once since the Pan. Salad was about wilted and I sent back the cold soup. When it returned it was watered down. Bye bye OG.

Golden Corral. When I first started, they're chicken was perfect, golden brown, moist and huge pieces.

Last time I went, it was like dark tan, rough and dry. Service is spotty, the staff have favorites and God help you if they're talking it up and you want more coffee.

Mil, water and juice you can get, but not coffee?

I can't say anything against Olive Garden. My son was a server there thru college. They donated all the food that was served to the family after my husband/son's father died. This was not a small thing there were about 60 people at the gathering after the funeral. It was such a blessing to not have to worry about planning and feeding all those people. I will be ever grateful to Darden Restaurants.

Everyone here swears by a restaurant known for it's hamburgers.....it's a hamburger for gosh sake....what can go wrong
No, there are great burgers out there. The quality of a burger is measured by a great meat cooked to perfection. The bun and veggies need to be fresh. The bun must be toasted to add a little crunch and char. Onions, I prefer red onions, can be fresh or grilled. Condiments should be a choice, mustard, mayo, ketchup or a mix of the most popular three. Many places are now offering ranch dressing as a condiment. That does not meet my expectations, I like ranch dressing on salad. I do not like it in other dishes.

My husband and I used to go to Swiss Chalet every once in a while . He’d order chicken and ribs with fries and I’d order chicken with salad however the last time we went was while we were in the city shopping and they never gave us any utensils when ordered take out. Going back we noticed a small sign on the window that suggested you have to now ASK for utensils. By the time we got the utensils our food was no longer hot. It was barely warm.

I live in a small city and don't get to the bigger ones very often and I don't like chain food any more than fast food. So, I cook my own.

Once when I visited down south I went to the famous Cracker Barrel chain, and it was pretty good! Now, there are CB's in my state but not nearby.

One other chain I do like is The Cheesecake Factory. They have a great menu and will specialize your order. Portions are large, or they were, which saves me from ordering their expensive cheesecake. I'm too full. I do get to go there once in awhile since it's not that far, but it's been awhile.

The Olive Garden's creamy chicken and gnocchi soup is good. Also, their rigatoni Bolognese.

Wolfgang Puck in Chicago O'hare Airport had, in my opinion, the worst pizza ever served at a restaurant. It was all crust and very little cheese. Maybe it is because crust is my least favorite part of a pizza. Maybe we just got a badly made one.

We used to stop at a nearby Golden Corral....excellent buffet, and good prices for Seniors. For some reason, this GC closed down sometime this Winter. However, there is an equally good Asian Buffet in the same area, so when we are up there, we go there. I much prefer Buffets, so I can chose what I want, and load up on a favorite,

I hate Taco Bell. I'd rather starve. I'll put Wendy's over McDonald's and Burger King. Arby's has some good items. I won't go to a Hardee's.

I like Cracker Barrel. I like Olive Garden. Not haute cuisine, but no surprises at either place. If I'm in the mood for seafood, I don't want to go to Red Lobster.

The Spousal Equivalent likes Golden Corral so we eat there a couple times a year. I can take it or leave it.

I used to like eating at the Pollo Tropical chain, but the quality of their food has gone downhill in the last couple of years.

While I applaud a lot of their business ideas, I do wonder what the big deal is about Chic-Fil-A sandwiches. And I think their fries are abysmal and anything “sweet” on their menu is *way* too sweet
