The Sound of Sirens Freaks Me out.

Sirens never used to all that much but since the one fire they do. I still remember that morning. They didn't stop.

Now I'm always freaked out it's a fire. Everything is green now but it won't be soon enough. And the fire planes often fly over my building if they are going south. I know the sound of those planes over others. And I get freaked out over them. Often checking the local news site online.

You have had some tough years in California,@Remy! We watched all the fires in horror and with great compassion! I hope this year will be better for you since you had so much precipitation during last winter.

I shrivelled up and died for the longest time when I heard a siren because I associated it with Allied Fighter Bombers coming over our town almost on a nightly basis. The only importance my village had was that it possessed a railroad junction. The bombers never succeeded but destroyed quite a few homes and our one and only factory instead.

Not much fun listening in your basement to the shriek of bombs coming down. Even when I was fifteen I couldn't stand it if I saw a movie that had explosions in it (had to cover my ears), even a busted balloon would send me into a panic. I overcame eventually but have a seething in the pit of my stomach to this day when they use the emergency siren in town!

My first Christmas here, I saw a fire truck outside, so I was on full alert. Then there was a knocking at my door, but no answer to my "Who's there?" Then I heard giggling, which freaked me out.

Turns out it was a Christmas gifts-for-seniors program sponsored by the local firefighters. Dang fools.

Oh wow.

By the night of the one fire, my complex was in an evacuation warning but not mandatory. I could see the glow from my upstairs apartment door. I left mainly due to the cats and stayed at my stepfather's. I put the cats in the extra bathroom. They were so freaked out. My neighbor behind me didn't leave but he said he had things by the door and hardly slept.

I know how you feel. When I hear the water bombers overhead, I go out to see which direction they’re flying.

I feel the same. I think anyone who's had a fire or been very near one would.

Yes, I became very freaked when hearing sirens when my husband was sick. Had to call for an ambulance way too many times. You can hear the help coming but it seems like forever till they arrive.
