Brains are so full of clutter and misinformation..?

When one doesn't like the information then they classify it as misinformation. After all just pointing a finger really helps a lot of people but it doesn't answer the problem.

Would humans be more intelligent if they could rid ourselves of the junk?
Oh definitely.
The sheer nonsense we are exposed to is making us zombies I am sure.
I mute the commercials on TV, I don't watch daytime TV except a quick news update. I consciously limit my time looking at Facebook - in fact I rarely post. My and everyone's trivia is just foolish!
I object to mind overload, I seek peace.

Is brain "junk" good, or bad? Both. having extraneous stuff floating around in our heads allows us to come up with unique solutions to problems. But I do have to say that I've never used the calculus differential equations much. And I met a long ago Navy mate, to talk over old times. The poor guy's mind was gone, his memory didn't match my memory of what I know was the only true account of the past.

We are biological entities. What you refer to is part of our being. We would not be the same person if we were to do so.
You have a good point actually. We do process information and make new connections all the time. Yet there is such a huge tide of information these days and I feel I will drown if I concern myself too much. So I escape a lot and quieten my mind.

I’ve stopped watching news for a week so far. It’s amazing how much calmer my mind is. So much bad news and misinformation. My 83 year old aunt said she’s happy living in her own little world. That sounds like a pretty good place to be.

As I age more than ever I wish I could dismiss historical events and nonsense no longer relevant to my needs. Naturally this would be impossible, eraseing the brain would be easier.

If you are watching TV all day or starring at Your phone then yes, your mind is totally full of junk. This, of course, makes you stupid when it comes to making the right decisions in your life and making any kind of positive contribution to the rest of the human race. In, fact you are becoming a sort of semi vegetable!

I call my brain a database. When someone asks me “Do you remember John Smith?” I usually answer, “Hold on. I’m running the name through the database.”
My mother in law used to claim she knew phone numbers for everyone living in Ogden, 100,000 or so people. She just couldn't remember which was which...

I class 'Clutter and Misinformation' as two seperate things.

I avoid misinformation, but retain a lot of clutter in my old brain.

It's all I have left, all the new stuff gets lost forever.

Like looking in that 'junk drawer', eventually I find what I know was in there, something that I need.

Don't take that away from me.
