Several years ago, I was in Singapore and I remember all those signs about "death penalty" for dealing drugs. I guess this guy just couldn't read or maybe he could read but wanted to make some fast cash. Anyway, he wouldn't be doing that again. They say, "Don't Mess With Texas." I say also say, "Don't Mess with Singapore."

Lock the SOBs up for life, or execute 'em. Sounds good, but it has a drastic side effect, overly harsh sentences drive up the violence level in drug dealing. "Don't leave witnesses" becomes drug land law. Until you can quench the populace's desire for illegal drugs, we are going to have a drug problem. Locking people up for decades isn't making a dent in illegal drug usage, and it's promoting extreme violence. I don't have a solution in a magic box.

Or maybe he was innocent. Who knows?

I think it’s sad that this person was hung. Someone charged with abetting the trafficking of about 2.2 lbs of cannabis. My thoughts are with his family.

The United Nations raising concerns regarding this guy, in that no due process and respect for fair trial guarantees. Some human rights groups decrying many flaws in the case and the process. Appeals and concerns by The European Union; The International Federation for Human Rights; Reprieve; Human Rights Watch, and Amnesty International. Some saying the evidence was far from clear cut – since he never actually touched the marijuana in question, was questioned by police without a lawyer, and denied access to a Tamil interpreter when he asked for one.

The accused maintained his innocence, claiming he was not the person communicating with others connected to the case.
