The Royal Family Just Revealed the Official Coronation Menu—Here's What's on It

Aubergine (eggplant), Roast Rack of Lamb with Asian-Style Marinade, Prawn Tacos with Pineapple Salsa and Strawberry and Ginger Trifle,

Instead of coronation chicken, which was created for the late Queen Elizabeth II’s celebratory meal in 1953, the modern royal family will be serving a dish that’s ideal for breakfast, lunch or dinner: Coronation Quiche.

“A deep quiche with a crisp, light pastry case and delicate flavors of spinach, broad beans and fresh tarragon,” according to royal staff, this quiche can be enjoyed hot or cold and pairs beautifully with boiled new potatoes and a green salad.

I could easily pass on the eggplant, lamb, and ginger trifle... but my goodness, that prawn taco with pineapple salsa would be worth a trip to London. Now... can someone explain why they're having tacos at a coronation?! Strikes me as odd, but whatdoiknow?

I wouldn't like that menu... I like Lamb but I wouldn't want a spicy asian sauce on it .. Quiche is something most people have any day of the week for lunch...and I absolutely hate trifle.. wet sponge *ugh*..

I think it's a very drab menu for a Spectacular event...

Yes. That's what I mean, just ok, drab, nothing fancy enough for a King. It's fit for me though.

The funny thing is , that her son Tom is British food writer and Critic... I bet if this menu had been for anyone else he would have ripped it apart ...

oh they've gone all out recently to make her look as attractive as possible. Much money spent on skin care, hair care, designer clothing ( none of which she was interested in previously, and she made no bones about it )...but now she has to be seen to look as tho' she's fit to be a Queen..
