Government Alert

If there are Americans on here - do you have similar alerts on your mobiles? To let you know imminent threat to life or Safety?
The US has emergency notification systems for phones, television, and radio, and we also have public warning systems in the form of a loud siren. Most of the sirens are located in areas that get a lot of catastrophic tornadoes or wildfires, and some are located on military bases and in cities where the state or local gov't feels there's a likelihood of a major terrorist or military attack. In the 1940s, all major train stations installed public sirens but some of those are gone now, or are no longer tested and maintained. Large dams have them as well, such as Hoover Dam and Folsom Dam, and federal prisons do, too.

I did what you shouldn't do ... my iPhone alerts have been silenced.
That is because some random amber alert about sent me flying out of my chair one afternoon! 😨 .. I'll take my chances.

And weather alerts are everywhere else anyway ... TV, radio. I'll catch anything there.

A very small town I lived in sent out a siren alert for fire or emergency personnel to come help. The whole town knew when something was wrong. The first time we heard it we had just arrived in town and didn’t have a clue. Scary.

That happened to my best friend when she moved from our hometown of Los Angeles to a town outside Denver, CO about 30 years ago.

My original post read: I got the alert at 3pm on the dot.. Quickly hit the OK button, then thought, hmmm, maybe I should have read the message first, haha...

@Kaila , re: What Happened next? … I'd like to say, my phone imploded and I was sucked into the fifth dimension.. But in truth.. nothing happened. It was all a huge anticlimax..

@Murrmurr , I actually had a good idea about what to do anyway, as it was quite prominent in our news.. I pressed the 'OK' button quickly as it was loud.. There wasn't a text 'STOP' message.. The other instruction (via news reports) was to just swipe the message off..

BTW, I'm a 'he' not a 'she', but how are you supposed to know that, by just a username, although I think it's sounds masculine.. My avatar pic could be deceiving though, as there is a woman in it, but I'm the male wolf and the girl represents my girlfriend.. ;)

Thanks for this comment! :giggle::LOL::D
If you ever do have a more exciting result, and find yourself in another dimension;
then we definitely hope that you will have kept a firm grip on your phone, and remember to post for us, including pictures! 😄☺️🤣
