AARP members what are the benefits to join?

We get advertisements from AARP to join and I am just wondering if any of you have joined and what benefits (discounts) you have received by joining.

We joined when we were in our fifties. We receive a magazine from them on a regular basis. The articles are varied and quite interesting. They keep up with all novelties, explain health conditions, legal changes, etc. They also provide you with healthcare and travel information, and give you various discounts. They have a very elaborated website that you can easily access that is very helpful. We don't take advantage of a lot of it, but we enjoy having our membership.
 

I see a common answer here and that is why I have not joined. It seems to be more for travel and eating out perks. I am getting my name off their mailing list if I Can.

AARP offers discount travel and lodging, internet games and puzzles, Medicare & Social Security advice, retirment planning, auto discount, exercise initiatives, It depends on your particular likes and dislikes to determined if AARP is beneficail.

I first joined back when I was in my 50s, and the card got me a few discounts back then. No need for that anymore, now no one questions if I qualify for a senior discount.

It has brought me lots of junk mail... And when I went on Medicare I signed up for AARP supplemental insurance, not sure it was the best deal, just the easiest for me.
 
I’ve used their benefits quite little as I travel little; it once got me a small discount on a motel stay. The magazine can have some interesting articles relevant to you, plus articles on celebrities who are now geezers like ourselves, although the celebs can well afford plastic surgeries and home staff. Membership is relatively cheap, plus they often send you junk gifts when you renew your membership…

Same here... just had it for a little while and got rid of it. We do travel, but we have AAA and that offers the same types of hotel stay benefits, so that's what we use.
 
I joined AARP membership in 2011 lasted 5yrs the only thing I got out of it was discounts at Walgreens
I don't drive or travel that much maybe once/yr it was a waste of my money left in 2016
