Do you fear AI ??

Yes, I do because AI has NO conscience, not even a damaged one which could be mended, and therefore could run amok dictating our lives or even eliminating us somehow while we would be powerless to defend ourselves against such an onslaught. How do you feel about this?

Yes, the potential for abuse is enormous. World governments should immediate take steps to control the proliferation of AI technology, but probably won't.
Who’s to say they aren’t the ones who will want to take advantage of this the most. I could be wrong but I ā€˜think’ Artificial Intelligence’ was first created by the military so they could greater understand their enemy. It was used to capture Bin Laden.

AI seems to me to be just a better search engine. Instead of just advertising it as a better search engine, the marketing plan is to put it up to the next level.

I've noticed AI is the new internet buzz word to indicate that a thing is next level. Then you have the multiple Youtube videos and media stories from influencers who debate whether we should be afraid of it.

The only thing to fear is what you don't know. If the AI is capable of replacing people in jobs, there's nothing new a bout that.

AI can be used to create fake images and videos. People already fall for fabricated stories. Things are going to get far worse really fast.

Have you seen this one of the Pope in a giant winter coat? It's fake.

There are some videos out there of a fake Tom Cruise and others.

It is, just call many a help line and see what answers... Nothing to fear there, technology has been replacing people in jobs for hundreds, maybe thousands of years, for the most part it has made our lives better.
I diasgree. When I call customer service for anything at all I'm given the runaround for half an hour, put on hold, asked if I would like to hear the menu again IN SPANISH, and at the end of it all I am exhausted and angry while AI is deliberately vague and unhelpful because it was programmed to be so, sticking customers with poor service at exorbitant prices with no way out. A human would have understood and helped as they always did. They were superior to AI in every way. Problems used to get resolved with humans AI offers just another problem.

I had to think about who Al was. Then it can to me you were talking about Artificial Intelligence. I thought you meant someone named Al.
You are right on with this one. When I read the title, I was wondering what they are talking about? Al Gore? I thought it must be some sort of American problem because I'm from Canada and have no idea about any problem with any "Al."

I just want to make 1 point. On a recent 2 month trip to a very hot country one of the really disgusting and upsetting sights that I saw day after day were the unwashed masses starring at their "smart" phones all day long. No matter which city I went to and no matter which bus I took. It was the same story.

When I got home I read an article from World Health Organization that said that in the near future, 50% of the world's population will be near sited due to the constant eye strain looking at tiny screens. Perhaps, I may sound heartless here, but I really feel, "Serves them right." It's a zombie world out there. The zombies are walking around dead to others but living in the technological world.

I agree with you, chic. Sorry, Rob. 😘

They don't want to pay humans to answer the phone. Automated answering systems are cheaper. They also don't want to deal with your problems. Running you around in circles and keeping you on hold for ions, blasting techno music at megadecibels, they want you to hang up. Or after you've been on hold forever, and now half deaf, you're disconnected. 😤 What a freaking hassle. It's frustrating and a waste of time. They just want to make money however they can. An inconvenience to you, the customer, means nothing.

Often, when the automated system asks me questions, I keep repeating, ā€œHelp, help, representative.ā€ Sometimes, it works, and it connects me to a representative.

I think it is very scary for the future. Could be great for medicine, but unless it can be confined and controlled, it sounds insanely risky, and probably crazy people will try to weaponize it.

But meanwhile I like chatgpt. There was a bird that sounded like it was saying co-co-leaves and I tried googling to find out what bird it was, but regular googling gave me a bunch of cocaine related responses. When I asked the same thing on chatgpt it helpfully responded that 'co-co leaves' was most likely a variant of the song of the Eastern Towhee that is more frequently described as 'drink your tea'. So I searched for some examples of the Eastern Towhee song on YouTube and they did sound like the bird I'd heard.

Slaughterbots.

Kind of reminded me of this video I saw a few months ago. If this was in use 10 years ago, as alleged, then what might be currently sitting in military warehouses around the world right now?

With AI installed, and a single use weapon perhaps, or even multi use, just waiting for the ’right moment’ to be used. Makes you think.

It won't be long before there will be no need for ground troops. Robots and drones will fight our wars.
