The most controversial thread ever posted in this Forum!

If men want their partners to dress to please them, they should take the trouble to find out what she likes and try to do the same.

Valid point.

Why the singling out of one gender here over the other?

Lets change the words and make it as equally valid. “If women want their partners to dress to please them, they should take the trouble to find out what he likes and try to do the same.

Does anyone get any sense that it ‘feels’ more confrontational when replacing the word "man" with "woman" within the same sentence? Just a thought.

Better still, “If anyone man or woman want their partner to dress to please them, they should take the trouble to find out what he/she likes and try to do the same”.

Valid point

I find that rich women and girls pretending to be poor by wearing ugly torn up jeans a total disgusting situation. Shows me that the "dumb and dumber" society has still the upper hand in many parts of the world. Helps me understand why we have so many massive shootings? If women want respect, I think this is an awful "funny" and strange way of asking for it?

I see the torn jeans, dislike them but otherwise don't think about them because they've become old news. Fashion goes nuts quite frequently! At the moment I shudder every time I am forced to watch a news person in my neighbourhood because she likes to be a trend setter and wears the most god-awful rigs. In another year it is probably going to be the norm and nobody will blink when faced with the ridiculous shapes and colours. I especially hate super inflated shoulder pads! No wonder I stick with undies! They are beautiful and timeless ... unless ... see cotton!

It fascinates me as to why its only jeans. Just think of the clothes coordination opportunities / options (mix and match), if they did it to their tops too.

UPDATE:
The ‘dishevelled look’ as a fashion statement would then have no bounds. The options would be limitless. I’m all for removing limits from society -- limits from man or woman, and the multitude in between.

Freedom of expression is a wonderful thing, and should be encouraged at every turn. Even if only so I can wear an Elvis Presley outfit at the weekends. Or at least every last Saturday of every month, as I prefer to dress like Steve Priest from The Sweet on every first Saturday. Need some help with my makeup though.

I responded to the ealier part of your post, Packerjohn, but cannot for the life of me understand what this has to do with massive shootings? Could you explain?

I believe massive shooting comes from people that have either:
1. Mental problems
2. Feed up with our current stressful, smartphone society.
3. Our society that lacks human contact.

originally they were very tightly woven and then wow the new fashion stringed vests all with holes all over the place but they still seemed to insulate - some metaphysical phenomena?

I am shocked! Seems that the generations that followed mine somehow seems to have lost one of the best part of having an 'encounter' with a lover. I understand that sometimes quick works. But many times, slow and easy is best. That includes time over a nice meal, focus conversations, maybe a movie, and all the while a little teasing is going on. Only after all that courtship can a couple truly appreciate the impact of lingerie. Seems all anyone wants now is a few crazy minutes together and then it's time to leave or go to sleep. Slow it down, take some time to get to know each other make it last...you will never forget those times...

I might be in the minority but I always had to be emotionally involved, otherwise even the most beautiful woman wouldn't tempt me, so getting to know someone over a period of time would be essential ... for me!

Struth Old Salt, that is rather drastic in the grand theme of things. It takes years to learn the art and I agree the ultimate is the best and for most that time in life will never arrive for many. So in my younger days, I was quite happy if they were breathing.

I am quite aware that I am different from most, Avon, and am content with that. "Just breathing" was never a turn on for me! :)

As I have confessed before, slightly embarrassed (because real men don't read romances,) my attraction to the genre, I have always found it strange that the women in these books seem to instantly fall for these 6'2, chiselled chin, six-packed males! Leading to the inevitable (am I allowed to say this) one-night-stand!

Are women now equal to men when it comes to this indiscriminate coupling? Are these books being realistic? Have things changed that much in the past sixty years, or are they just wishful thinking on the part of the author and her readers?

I cannot think myself into women's minds, so I really have no idea! Generalized observations only, please, since I don't want anyone to give away intimate secrets! I just always wondered as I read these books!

And powers that be, I will not be upset if you censor this post! It is skirting the "allowable!"

no subject is really touchy god has passed them all for discussion didn't he once say " I give you free will"?? remember and that's when it started going badly. Just caught the last half of Blade Runner I again on TV - never seen a better one - I think this topic is covered there?

I'll go along with that. Never saw the point of one night stands. Not really my thing.

edit: To be frank, I like to think I have better things to do, and generally have. And usually far more 'rewarding'.

Blade Runner, you have lost me there, I can remember Road Runner bleep bleep. Reading some posts, I think the forum needs a truth detector button.:):)
