Do you fear AI ??

I think it is very scary for the future. Could be great for medicine, but unless it can be confined and controlled, it sounds insanely risky, and probably crazy people will try to weaponize it.

But meanwhile I like chatgpt. There was a bird that sounded like it was saying co-co-leaves and I tried googling to find out what bird it was, but regular googling gave me a bunch of cocaine related responses. When I asked the same thing on chatgpt it helpfully responded that 'co-co leaves' was most likely a variant of the song of the Eastern Towhee that is more frequently described as 'drink your tea'. So I searched for some examples of the Eastern Towhee song on YouTube and they did sound like the bird I'd heard.
I have also tried chatgpt several times and about 50% of the time it gave me a wrong answer. So be careful with it. For example, on Easter Sunday, I asked it what day it was and it said it was an ordinary day, then I corrected it, and it apologized and then gave the correct answer. Another time, it said a certain person was president of a certain organization and that was incorrect. So proceed with caution.

I don't know enough about AI. I think we are a long way from having an AI World Emperor- it can't even drive yet. And AI still cannot come up with a random number. I think there are some Y2K type fears about AI that may be overdone. I'm not worried about AI masters, after all, we are the ones, who can always pull the plug. I doubt AI is as treacherous as a human. I wouldn't count us out.

It implications of the many things AI can be used (and misused) for are mind boggling. While I feel I should be afraid, I haven't gotten there yet. But I have no doubt we are on the road to the themes seen in SciFi movies (eg: I Robot). I think we are currently being "broken in", perhaps desensitized to the idea of AI being a part of our every day lives via our devices, interacting with AI during phone calls to businesses and other (what are becoming) common uses.

The newest development in AI which can write term papers, diagnose illnesses and pas the bar exam represents the good applications for its use. In this article he describes the new version GPT-r as an "improved model that is "more creative and less biased".

I saw a news report on which OpenAI CEO Sam Altman admitted that he and his team are well aware that their AI program can be dangerous if it gets into the wrong hands. He said he is in constant contact with the U.S. powers that be to reassure that his AI program hasn't fallen into the wrong hands. Over a decade ago I saw a documentary that listed AI as one of the possible causes of our apocalypse. Since then the late Stephen Hawking, Elon Music and Bill Gates issued warnings about AI.

I think I read that its education was done in 2021 or anyway some year before the present, so that is a disappointing limitation. Like I asked it how much was the Maryland tax deduction for pension income and the answer it gave was the limit a few years ago and is not the current limit.

It was very cautious and said to check with the state dept of treasury, and when I asked it medical-related questions it would answer but with lots of 'ask your doctor' reservations.

No, what will be, will be. If I am around to experience it, I can't control it so why fear or worry about it. I am getting to a stage in my life that what will be, will be. I will accept a AI male - he won't require much. I just have to keep him charged up or plugged in, maybe 🤣 🤣

I play solitaire against AI every day. First of all, I gotta point out that there's no such thing as "random shuffle." You can click on that icon a million times, but "random shuffle" is a total lie.

So, AI can lie.

As I play, I keep making the same mistakes because my memory is not so good, which is why I play. The Solitaire AI has an excellent memory, and "randomly" shuffles and deals the cards anticipating the type of mistakes I'm likely to make.

So, AI can be programmed (or can learn) to take advantage of your weaknesses.

I sometimes cheat at solitaire. The Solitaire AI knows this, anticipates it, and shuffles and deals the cards accordingly.

So, AI can be programmed (or can learn) to thwart your efforts to defeat it. Or it will at least challenge them, seemingly just for the fun of it.

When I "win" the game, it's blatantly obvious that the Solitaire AI let me win, as though it knows I'll leave and go play solitaire with some other AI if it doesn't give me the occasional "win."

So, AI is totally capable of gaslighting you.

No I don't fear it. Just find it to be irritating. When I play Mahjongg with AI it sets me up to lose. Once, when I figured out its pattern of play and kept winning, it shut down the game before I could add my points. Boy I was mad. Eat poison data you effing bast**d.
