The UK is different from the one at the time of, Queen Elizabeth's Coronation.

The one consistent is the number of troops and bands on horses, they are all
similar.

Even those who dislike this Country or the Monarchy, have to admit that we know
how to do a decent parade.

I hope that you all can see this on the TV wherever you are in the World.

Did you know that I am not allowed to say that I would like to see the abolition of a monarchy?

The Treason Felony Act of 1848 makes it an offence to advocate for the abolition of the monarchy.
Such advocation is punishable by up to life imprisonment under the Act.
OMG ...Really......God Im going to the Tower Then !! Off with Our Heads HC ....

I watched it this morning. I thought it was awesome. I don't think they were similar, the colors, & perfection the entire procession presented has to be a HUGE source of pride for the Brits.

The person or persons in charge of coordinating that procession did a fantastic job.

I just watched it for 5 hours .. it was worth every minute.
King Charles seemed overwhelmed, as I'm sure he was.
It was good to see our RCMP there.
That must have taken months of co-ordinating .. as Knight said, they did a fantastic job.

I don't get it myself, kings and queens in 2023 , it just is not my cup of tea I guess. I suppose if I lived there I would be more into the whole coronation thing. I heard it cost about 140 million to put on and yet there are or were homeless people outside the palace walls. I am just to practical about things I guess. It is just my opinion.

I saw a few pictures online and looked at the beautiful pictures that @hollydolly posted. Almost like a fairy tale to watch, and a lot more interesting than our presidential inaugurations here in the states.
One clip that has caught people’s attention shows some kind of mysterious figure walking past the doorway after the Royal Guards have marched inside. They are saying it is one of the clergy involved in the ceremony, but the reason people are intrigued is that it looks like the Grim Reaper walking past the doorway.
I watched the video, and then took a screenshot as he walked past the door, so the rest of the picture is kind of blurry. Maybe Holly knows who this person actually would be , dressed like that ?

I saw some highlights of the day on TV @Mike .... sorry for the bad weather there.
.... fascinating, the differences between our countries.

It's just hard for me to think of Royals and 2023 in the same sentence.
If I lived in Europe I might understand it more.
I'm like that a little too and so was surprised how many royals from different countries were in attendance. There are actually a lot more of them than I'd realized.

@Happyflowerlady It does look sinister but, it is likely to be a verger. A verger is, I believe, usually a layperson and similar to a caretaker or attendant.

  • A verger (or virger, so called after the staff of the office, or wandsman in British English, though archaic).

Pinky, I believe that one man organised the procession and the time that it
should take, he probably had a group of helpers.

The troops are already trained to parade, I know that they had one night's
practice, starting at midnight, there may have been another practice, but
if there was it was not mentioned, so that was an excellent achievement.

I had not planned to watch the Coronation but got caught up in seeing who attended, what they were wearing, etc. and have to admit it was very impressive

The only thing that could have improved It, in my opinion, was for King Charles to foot the bill himself, a Thank You for peoples continued loyalty and support, it would have been a wonderful gesture, in these times of hardship, and ingratiated him to millions worldwide

I tend to support the Monarchy and I know that people like a good show (which we Brits do very well) , but I wasn't interested in watching the coronation. Being rather cynical, I wonder how many people were there just for the occasion.
