I love it and cannot wait for Saturday. I watch with good friends and have a drink. It is such a fun night. I recommend the film Fire Saga' - it is wonderful and so funny. It captures the essence of this whole Eurovision experience.

So do you love or hate Eurovision?

I'll be watching and if you want to avoid your National tv commentary watch on you tube(VPN set to a country not showing it).
loads Of stuff on the Eurovision you tube channel.
First semi tomorrow.

Oh what an amazing night. it's really amazing. it's amazingly amazing - oh, I wish we had another word than amazing to describe this truly amazing occasion. And now here are the results from Heaven (5 minute pause for dramatic effect) All our points go to Fantasy land. The song was terrible, but WOW what an amazing figure!

No, I don't watch it - we'll maybe the results. I can usually watch a few more programmes during the pauses for dramatic effect. Like a lot of other occasions, I think that it's more a matter of saying you've seen / done it. A bit like 'Proms in the park'.

Nope.. it's an awful show.. with not a chance of the Uk winning.. and with the Eastern European countries giving each other the votes... and terrible commentary since Graham Norton took the rise out of it.. even going as far back as Terry Wogan... who never took it seriously...

I love it and have always watched it.. I'm well aware that it's long been a politically biased voting system, but I don't think that's what it's about.. It's a celebration of music (in all it's many forms, good and bad) and a night of fun, outrageous costumes and performances..

I really enjoy the commentary by Graham Norton in which he is intentionally taking the P.. It's absolutely hilarious at times... Let's face it, most (not all) of these singers/bands are one hit wonders, voted for by panels to represent their countries.. They can make a decent career out of it, if they do well, prime example, Abba.. I know, understatement there! Haha!!

Chill out and give it a watch peeps, if you've never seen it before or have been negatively influenced by others opinions.. each to their own of course.. But, you never know, it might make you smile... 😁

You have to sit through a whole load of dross to get amusing comments from Graham..lol.c'mon it's many years since you saw a good song on Eurovision much less made into a big hit like Abba et al..

How would you know? Surely you don't watch it, as you obviously hate it so much.. I think you would have to watch it to know that... Am I wrong? ;)

It's either that, or you are influenced by negative statements of others.. ♥️

yes like everyone else.. to hate a programme you have to have watched it first and of course I watched it for many years until it became terrible, and I stopped.. ... believe me I'm never influenced by other people's negative statements or views..

I guess it's not worth another chance then, since the last time you watched it and hated it! Oh well!! 🤔

I don't know why you feel it's necessary to try and convince me to watch something I've watched for 30 years.. which has become awful over the last few years .. if you enjoy that type of thing you do you...... but if anyone is looking to watch good music.. this is not it !!

It either appeals or doesn't. You have to be in the mood and expect too much. I love the hilarious costumes, the energy and optimism. Above all is the way the contestants just seem unaware of how absurd they look and sound. They just do it. But it is fun and spectacular.

Some acts stand out as fantastic. Anyone remember Hard Rock Hallelujah? Just a bit over the top! I loved it. It quite rightly won many years ago.

LOL>.you're right about the hilarious costumes.. but no ...I don't remember the song.. ..apparently it reached the heady heights of number 25 in the UK charts.....:ROFLMAO:

I'm sorry if you feel I'm trying to convince you to watch it.. My initial post was in answer to the OP's question with my opinion.. You felt the need to jump onto that and reply to me, for some reason.. when you could have just let it be...

And I didn't say it was all good music.. I wouldnt personally buy any albums or singles by any of the singers/bands from Eurovision.. It's not really my type of music, but I love the spectacle of it and the show... I find it fun.. Music is so subjective.. We all like what we like and dislike what we don't.. Yes, exactly, you do you and I'll do me!!... Peace! ♥️

I didn't ''jump in'' this is a discussion forum, if you don't want people to reply to your comments you're on the wrong forum... I'd already posted my opinion before yours...

You took exception to me not liking the show, and then accused me of being swayed by other people's negative reactions, inferring at 68 years old that I have no opinions of my own..

Stop replying to me. I've already said I don't like the show.. most people in the UK don't.. whether you like that or not, it;s fact!!

Graham Norton is so funny @Wolfhammer , hes the only tv presenter i can laugh at.......LOL

I heard recently that Sandy Shaw has brought out a re-mix of 'Puppet on a string' for charity.

As for Eurovision, I've always thought the best bits were the comments by the late Terry Wogan and Graham Norton. As Wolfhammer suggested, it's a spectacle - a show full of kitsch, excess, terrible music and awful presenters. Maybe that's what attracts people to it - but not me.
