Following a Series for Years and Then the Ending….

Please be careful answering this. Even if it’s an old series, don‘t give any spoilers.

You can enter a hidden spoiler using the three perpendicular dots, right beside the artist easel, to get to the mask.

Have you followed a series for years and then loved or hated the ending.

There have been a few that have wrapped up yet seemed to leave a crack open for it to return.

I always think of (Bob) Newhart. That wasn’t expected.

The Blacklist is on for the 11th and final season. I have no idea how it will end, just want it done.

I want to see HBO's Succession end, it was a terrific Season 1 and 2 but this season 3 is making me yawn.

Agree about The Blacklist.....enough is enough, might end with a flash forward with his granddaughter Agnes taking over the reins and wanting revenge on who killed grandpa.

@Lee That’s the most reasonable guess I’ve read for Blacklist.

With streaming I’ve become addicted to seeing a whole season at once. TV chat hosts were giving out spoilers because of their excitement with shows. If it’s a hot series like Succession or White Lotus that comes out weekly, I have to watch it right away.

’Hell on Wheels’ and ‘Longmire’ both left me feeling like the the endings were incomplete.

There have been several series that just went on too long and i found myself thinking ‘I’m sick of you people’ and just ceased watching. ‘Outlander’ and ‘Shameless’ are first two that come to mind.

I’m really unhappy when a long series ends with a cliffhanger. It’s like the writers knew their weekly paycheque was done so couldn’t be bothered anymore.

I never watched Lost. Didn’t it have an unsatisfactory end.

Well, I am a long haul sort of guy. I have bought from Amazon all 20 years of "Gunsmoke." I have watched all 19 years and about a week ago I started the 20th and final year. Unfortunately, Kitty, the Saloon owner is gone but Fetus, Doc and Marshall Dillon are still providing law and order in Dodge City. It will be awful sad for me when I finish the last show of this 20th year.

My humble option is that "Gunsmoke" was the best TV western series ever made. I base this on having seen all the years and all the shows of "Have Gun Will Travel", "Johnny Yuma", "Bat Matterson", "The Rifle Man," "Wanted Dead or Alive", "Raw Hide" and some of "Cheyenne" and "Wagon Train".

I am one of the few who liked the ending of The Sopranos. I don't think I am spoiling anything thing when I say that I did think my cable went out when I was watching it live the first time. I have my own theory about the ending but I will keep it to myself.

I also liked the ending of Lost. I guess I go against the grain because I am liking this final season of Succession and am curious how it ends..

In my opinion, Six Feet Under and The Shield had the best series finales. The worse ? There are so many to chose from but I would pick The Wire. Loved the show up until the last season. The newspaper season just didn't interest me.

I also liked the ending of The Sopranos and thought Six Feet Under probably had one of the best, most satisfying series endings ever. Newhart's ending was brilliant. Mad Men and Breaking Bad both had excellent wrap-ups, as did The Americans.

Hated Seinfeld's ending. Thought Friends and M*A*S*H stayed a few seasons beyond their expiration dates so by the time they ended their last shows felt less like finales and more like a FINALLY relief.

An unsatisfactory ending happened to two shows I had been watching. Westworld and The Time Traveler's Wife. Both were dropped because not enough people were watching them. I agree that Westworld lost its edge but still wish that I had seen the conclusion to both stories!

I disagree. I thought that Rawhide was the very best western series ever filmed. Followed by Have Gun, Will Travel. I have both series on DVD. My father did like Gunsmoke. He also watched the two that I mentioned previously.

I watched that show for years.

Maverick Lyrics

Who is the tall, dark stranger there?
Maverick is the name.
Ridin' the trail to who knows where,
Luck is his companion,
Gamblin' is his game.
Smooth as a handle on a gun.
Maverick is the name.
Wild as the wind in Oregon,
Blowin' up a canyon,
Easier to tame.

Riverboat, ring your bell,
Fare thee well, Annabel.
Luck is the lady that he loves the best.
Natchez to New Orleans
Livin on jacks and queens
Maverick is a legend of the west.

Riverboat, ring your bell,
Fare thee well, Annabel.
Luck is the lady that he loves the best.
Natchez to New Orleans
Livin on jacks and queens
Maverick is a legend of the west.
Maverick is the legend of the west!

Deadwood that was on HBO than ran from 2004 to 2006. They should have had a final season, but decided to finally do a movie in 2019 to finish it.

Best ending was the Bob Newhart Show, loved it!
Deadwood really did screw over their fans. I guess there was a rift between Milch and HBO and as a result we got John From Cincinnati instead of a proper final season of Deadwood.

The 80's medical show' St Elsehwere' I watched from beginning to the end but the finale I thought what the ******! so disappointing!
M*A*S*H finale was too long at 2 1/2hrs
It's easy to go down a huge rabbit hole with the St. Elsewhere finale. Basically a theory exists that many shows after that one are all in a fantasy St Elsewhere universe. Silly but fun rabbit hole https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tommy_Westphall

It sure was. We went through so many real emotions with that show. Dr David Morse was so kind and everything bad happened to him.
